Professor Park is a nice lecturer and cares about his students. He tries to have fun in class and does not make it too stressful. However, his tests and homework assignments were still difficult enough to encourage students to learn. I would take thermodynamics with Professor Park again!

There is so much that needs to change about this class. Dr. Park seems like a nice person who is definitely approachable, but he needs to change his lectures and teaching style. Each class, there would be about 60 slides of difficult content which barely had text to understand and Park did not annotate them for us to follow along. He would simply "lecture" about the content in a dull, monotonous voice which was severely disengaging. His homeworks were extremely time-consuming since they were not about the content at all, but required us to summarize research papers. There was one midterm and a final, both take-home with a week to finish. The exams were open-AI, which was the only reason they were manageable (though painfully long), since his slides were pretty much useless. There was hardly any exam practice provided during lectures and discussions or through homework. Overall, I felt that although I was interested in the course material, I could not learn much of it due to the many weaknesses of this class :(

One of the most interesting bioengineering electives out there. The one major annoyance was the homework, which was summarizing a paper and drawing a figure for it. Waste of time and did not help you learn the information and prepare you for tests. Still worth taking.

Being a chemical engineer, I don't know if it's possible to avoid a professor but if you can, please don't ever try to be in one of Park's classes. He doesn't try, doesn't care, and is overall just disorganized and unprepared. Unprepared meaning he literally did not even think about what he would lecture on/how he would structure the class. The only potential benefit of this is that you could negotiate due dates/assignments but overall the disorganization is too messy to actually gain any beneficial learning from the 10 weeks with him, which to me is just sad. I would give Park a 0 if possible. As a person, he seems alright but it's obvious he doesn't want to be in the place of a professor. However, he does seem quite petty since one time he called me out with the hopes of trying to catch me not paying attention even though I was perfectly aware of what was going on, despite the lack of substance to his lectures. Prepare for one of his classes by looking for previous quarter material and creating a schedule to self-study. Wishing anyone who comes across him patience and the best of luck.
