Zackey is the man. He is very interested in topics and makes sure to keep things relevant in lecture. He also really wants students to know the stuff, more importantly the stuff which will be tested on. He's available to talk and is very approachable. The guy's great and if you ever get a chance, take one of his classes.

I am a north campus student who hates science. However, realizing that I needed one more science GE before graduation, I chose the class/professor that got the best reviews on this site. I can honestly state that Professor Zackey is one of the best professors I've had here. I had little to no interest in geography/sciences before the class, but after, I am genuinely interested in the subject. His teaching and subject material piqued that interest, and I am definitely glad I took the class. Albeit I do regret not having gone to office hours and such, it was still a very enjoyable class.

As for difficulty, it was actually a challenge--lots and lots of notetaking that didn't merely entail copying down what's on the powerpoint, but making sure you get the concepts that are on the ppts. Studying for the midterm and final took alot of time, but paid off in the end with a very good grade.

Take this class, put the work and time into it, and you'll walk away happy.

Professor Zackey is a cool, down to earth guy. He is the fairest professor you will ever take. My favorite part about the class is that he didn't expect you to know something he didn't do a great job at explaining. Some professors expect you to learn stuff they taugh well but not Zackey. All you have to do is attend lecture (don't miss) and LISTEN. Copy down what's on the slides plus whatever extra info he might give. Very humble guy that doesn't pretend to know it all like most professors. If you try you will get a good grade.

He is a really cool professor. The course is very interesting and easy to understand. I am a south campus student but found the materials of this course interesting. Just understand his slides and try to remember those key points. It is not difficult to get A.

this class was too perfect--easy GE, little work involved, hot teacher, etc. the labs and material were simple. 7 labs, one midterm, and one final. i got an A+ in this class and had loads of fun! definitely recommend for non-science majors, or for those looking for an easy GE. or just for fun!

Professor Zackey is one of the best and easiest professors I've ever had. He's very friendly and down-to-earth. He uses interesting, colorful Power Points for lecture. Geography 2 is a very easy class--the "labs" are very simple and usually ended after an hour, the midterm and final were very straightforward, there's no reading, & the Species Report we had to do at the end of the quarter was very easy to do. I personally found the subject material interesting and even if you aren't into trees & ecosystems, take this class anyway: it's easy!

Dr. Zackey is a great professor and person. I took his Geo 5 class and wasn't left disappointed. The content is relatively easy, the weekly readings are interesting, and the exams are fair. If you put in a reasonable amount of time into studying and attend lecture regularly, there's no reason why you shouldn't get a good grade.

Zackey is a wonderful professor and just really an overall good guy. This class was incredibly interesting. Probably not the easiest GE class you can take, but it's definitely manageable. There is a midterm, final and discussion grade. For this class it’s absolutely necessary to attend lecture. Midterm and Final are both heavily and almost entirely focused on lecture, with short essay questions and fill in the blank questions. Reading is used more as additional material to further explain topics than to teach the material. There is no book, just articles. Discussion is straightforward; weekly write up, participation and such. There is a curve to the class, which makes it that much greater. Also, this class is a great choice for North Campus majors since it looks at people’s impact on the environment from different social, political and economic perspectives. So stuff we’re familiar with it haha. Overall good class, funny interesting professor, and not a GPA killer.

Zackey's a great professor to take a class with. His lectures are straightforward and he clearly states what he expects from you for the midterm and final, which can be aced with pure memorization. Attendance for lecture is mandatory since he doesn't post lectures online, but it's a small price to pay. There is no textbook which is a plus, just a few articles to read online per week for discussion. I'd definitely recommend him for an interesting and relatively simple G.E.

Zackey is so far the best professor I've taken at UCLA. Textbooks are not required for his class, but lecture slides are essential. Write down every point on the slides except those quotations. It would be good if you can write down his explanations too. Overall, I can't say his tests are easy. Yet, if you take your time review and understand those ideas behind the slides, an A is not far from you. Just hang in there. You will learn a lot from Zackey.
