I found MED-185 as an undergraduate non-STEM major through looking on the class schedule via MyUcla. I had interest in alternative medicine practices and how East-West ideology can be applied to design. I enjoyed how the course was taught and all the guest lecturers. I found that it was also helpful for life-long knowledge of healthy practices in terms of longevity.

Some information about course: The course is two hours/week for live zoom discussions but there is 3-hours' required recorded lectures and readings to complete before the zoom sessions. You will learn things from acupressure, to healthy life choices to maintain body homeostasis.

I came into this class thinking it'd be super easy since it was only 2 hours/week for a 5 unit class -- however, the way the course is setup made the class unnecessarily difficult. There are only 100 points available so that means that ONE question wrong is a whole 1% off your grade, so the really minimal margin of error led to my downfall really fast. There are extra credit points available but only up to 3.5 points. These professors, while great in instructing/lecturing, were not easy at all on regrades even if 80+% of the class got a question wrong. Assignments were really really easy and while exams were all multiple-choice, there were several questions that had two answers that both seemed right -- making it easy to pick the wrong one and lose points. However, I will say that the content was extremely interesting and I even downloaded the slides in hopes of me referring back to them later. Just be mindful that every point really does matter!
