Okay, I don't know about you guys but I don't particularly love Cunningham. She reads off her notes and goes through them crazy fast. I'm always frantically writing down everything to the point where I just give up. Bring a tape recorder if you have one! She's not exactly organized in her notes/lectures either. I felt like I learned more in my discussion classes then in class.
One midterm, an optional essay, and a final... Which is pretty good I suppose. The midterm was pretty hard since she wants you to write a lot of all the things you know about the term or passage and whatever links to it... which can seem to be never-ending. I'm not fond of her class. She seems like a nice person though but I wouldn't know if I would take her again for such a class as Milton or even Chaucer.
To put it simply, Cunningham is brilliant and knows what she is talking about and she knows how to teach it so you will understand Milton, which is better than what i can say about alot of profs who teach paradise lost. I actually learned to enjoy Milton and found myself (near the middle of the quarter) looking forward to reading it because I actually understood what was going on. However, she does not give you a study guide for the midterm and the Final and pretty much says "study everything, cheers!" I received an A on the midterm because I studied my BUTT off for it and it paid off in the end, so getting an is not impossible in this class but just really difficult to do. Be prepared to study hard but also to learn alot.
