Karen was (true to her name) one of the rudest, most vile, self-absorbed professor I've ever had the misfortune of being taught by. She was always snide when students would ask simple questions, and would even laugh when people participated (something that takes a lot of courage to do in a lecture hall). Honestly, even if the class is easy, don't take it with her because just her personality and attitude alone will make it miserable, even worse than the holidays with your mother-in-law. 0/10 :(
Covers variety of interesting topics; anyone interested in environmental science will likely enjoy this class. It's relatively easy; the midterm and final exams are somewhat difficult (but you can use a cheat sheet) and the rest of the workload is light. Has group projects and presentations (in lab) and extra credit opportunities. Engaging and inspiring overall!
This class was co-taught with professor Noah Garrison this quarter. I found McKinnons lectures in comparison to be quite boring and lacking engagement. I also found her to be quite rude at times when responding to students' answers. Other than that, the class was pretty easy and manageable.
