One of the easiest classes I've ever taken. Prof. Holczer is very laid back, especially in grading, and his exams are much, much easier than what you might expect, although they might have the occasional random problem. You don't really learn too much from the class though, because his lectures are rather haphazard and unorganized. He also deviates from the syllabus quite a bit. Overall, very nice guy and decent professor, and the class grading is extremely lenient.

Karoly Holczer is a nice guy, but I learned absolutely nothing from any of his lectures. I've never been this unsatisfied with an A+: I think that I did absolutely nothing during my tests. The only reason why I don't say I learned absolutely nothing in this class is the TA, Trevor Schoepner. He's an incredible teacher and he's unbelievably smart; he held a couple of reviews and math classes which were exceptionally fun.

You can skip all lectures and discussions and study for ten minutes prior to each test to expect an A (the second midterm was 15 straightforward MCQs with partial credit and the final was optional because of the coronavirus); if you actually read the textbook he uses (Sears and Zemansky's University Physics), you can expect an A+, and if you carefully read the official textbook (Purcell and Morin's Electricity and Magnetism), you can expect to get the most solid introduction to electricity and magnetism you could possibly get without using much subtle math (it's just basic vector calc).

Admittedly, Karoly is not a best lecturer. He acknowledges his accent and handwriting on the first day, and you will learn more out of the Purcell textbook than his presentations. But he clearly is a professor that cares for students outside of the class. In light of the Coronavirus outbreak, he talked about possibly making finals optional and online around 2 weeks before UCLA released the announcement. Definitely a caring professor who doesn't care much about grades but more about your well-being.

I really liked Professor Holczer. He's very friendly and understanding and it's obvious he cares a lot about his students. However, he admittedly isn't a great lecturer. He's very disorganized during lecture and his handwriting can be hard to read at times. He does have an accent but I could understand him perfectly fine. The first 6 homeworks for this class were pretty hard because some of the questions were written by our TA. Homeworks 7-9 were much much easier, however, since by this point Holczer had just been uploading the homework himself which consisted only of pictures of problems from the textbook. The midterms and final were all very easy. From what it sounds like, a large portion of people in this class will be getting an A/A+. I'm fairly certain that I'm in the minority of students when I say I would recommend taking Holczer if you have the chance. Despite his lectures, he is a very fun person to talk to outside of class and is very willing to answer your questions if you have any (I've also found that his explanations in office hours are A LOT better than they are in lectures).
