Attend the lectures! He summarizes the reading and it can help figure what you want to write about for the essay/midterm and what readings you'll find the appropriate information in - which is always super helpful. It doesn't hurt that he speaks and teaches in a super interesting way. I really liked the class with Terraciano.

This class was easy just a lot of readings but the essays were easy, and the midterm and final were also easy. All the questions were given beforehand either directly or similarly in the study guide. It does not matter too much if you go to lecture but it does help sometimes. Slides are posted but not a lot is explained on slides. Overall discussion was short and simple. I had a good TA so it was fairly easy. There are weekly discussions of questions you answer online but they are easy points and aren't really graded on accuracy just on completion.

This was a pretty good class. Prof. Terraciano is definitely a good professor. The class is pretty interesting but a lot of reading as you need to buy 5 books for this class. Technically you don't have to do them all. You can just selectively read for the two essays and the midterm. However, I found that preparing for the final can be tough if you don't do the readings. Other than the readings, there isn't much work at all in this class. Pretty much all of the grading is done by your TA as others have mentioned so hope for a good TA. The midterm was really easy, just one essay question and then easy vocab. The final is tougher though. Two essays and a matching section where you match quotes with authors. It's not really hard, just a lot of preparation. Overall, I'd recommend this class.

History 8A was a very well taught class, Terraciano is extremely passionate about the subject and definitely expresses that passion through lecture. TA's play a big part in your grade.

This class was easy and interesting, but grade really depends on your TA.

I think the professor was a great lecturer, but your grade is subjective/mostly based on the TA. I think my writing is mediocre but got As on my papers and I think Bs on the midterm/final. Skim through the readings and go over the study guide and you'll pass. I mostly read enough to do the essays/exams, and that was enough for me.

This class was very reading heavy and important in passing the class. The TA you get will be the thing that decides if you do well in this class. My TA was a hard grader and I believe I would have gotten a better grade with a different TA. There is not many assignments, just 2 papers and midterm and final. The midterm and final are in class essays with some match the terms with the definition and they wanted citation from the readings (but you didn't have the books available). I wish I had a different TA becuase this was my first B+ since I started college.
