Quarter: Spring 2023
Grade: C+

Overall, the workload for this class was extremely manageable -- there were 3 group worksheets throughout the quarter that were relatively easy, especially when split between the group. Additionally, the 2 midterms and final were very fair. Our midterms were on canvas and the final was in person. My one quarrel with this class was the extreme down curve that we were not made aware of. My final grade was an 86%, but got down-curved to a C+, which was really upsetting. I'm pretty sure the curve was only really bad for this particular quarter BUT, just in case, make sure you're acing everything if you want to get a B or above in the class.

First off don't let the individual below who is high on his/her ego full you. Congrats you wanted everyone to know you beat the curve! Bravo! However they left out one key note; the class is down curved.

The class is overall easy, it consists of two midterms, 3 group assignments, and 1 final. The midterms are short and easy overall. The final allows 1 cheat sheet but the finals are recycled from previous quarters so your best off studying those. Group assignments are easy but be careful not to get screwed as you work as a group for the assignment but your final grade in the class your competing among each other. The final is easy just study and do mind tap. However the one problem in this class is informing the class that grades won't be down curved only to drastically curve the class the the day before grades are due. Overall the content and material itself is not hard rather interesting but your better off finding a class who won't down curve. Econ 1 with Ohanian is a much better option if you want an engaging professor who wants the best for his students and doesn't overload material.

Boswell made Econ 2 as optimal as it could be. Some kids (as Biz Econ majors like to do) enjoyed complaining that she would go too fast or present too much material. She had to get through the chapters in ten week, which is not her fault. Also, her exams were not hard whatsoever, and the final was simple with a cheat sheet option. The homeworks were straightforward and easy to ace (also, besides the 3 assignments, there was no homework). In my opinion, the primary reason people struggled was because they didn't pay attention. I would recommend taking. Much better than Ohanian.

Took Boswell for 103/104 in back to back quarters. 45% projects, 20% midterm, and 35/55% final depending on if you improved over midterm. Definitely a very fair class with great grading for projects, other than the final project in which was graded tougher despite being "completion" based. The averages on the midterm and final were around a 78 and 74, with the final, curved mean of the class being an 83%, which correlates directly with the department-mandate curve. Knowing how to code in R already from 103 will save you many hours on projects, but unlike Rojas's reviews, it is not necessarily required. It is far more important to know how to interpret R code, which makes up a good 70% of tests. I found the content and class to be reasonable, and would definitely take Boswell again for 103/104 if given the opportunity.

Really challenging course, but Boswell knows this and does her best to make it as doable as possible. After having her for 103 and 104 I can easily say she is the most chill, patient, and understanding econ professor I've had here. Projects were largely graded for completeness, and though difficult, were interesting and practical applications of what we'd learned in class. Her tests are all multiple choice, do not involve coding other than interpreting output, and were always realistic relative to what we were taught and given in practice exams. It was easy to talk to her after lectures with any questions about the material, and she also always came to class dripped out. Overall would highly recommend Boswell for 103, 104, or any other class she's teaching.

This class was great as there was also a zoom option. The workload is super manageable as the homework assignments are all completed with a group of your choice. She is good at teaching, although she goes a little fast. She also allows you to use a cheat sheet for the final.

I don't want to jinx myself before a big test, but as I am studying for the midterm I am realizing slowly how amazing of a professor Boswell is and felt compelled to give her a good review. I think that 104 is the most difficult required class in the economics major and after taking 103 with Pinto and feeling like I learned nothing, I had been putting off taking 104 for a long time mostly out of fear. I think that I am so fortunate to have been able to take this class with Boswell because the way she teaches is just so clear and makes extremely daunting topics very easy to understand for people who do not have a background in statistics. Furthermore, she makes herself extremely available for help whether it be through emails, office hours, or campuswire, and it's very clear that she actually cares about students learning. She's very reasonable and extended one of our projects when she noticed that students were struggling. She's also very funny sometimes, though I don't think that being funny is a necessary condition for being a good professor.
I'm a bit sad that I'm almost done with all of the economics classes, because had I taken a class with Boswell earlier in my college career, I would have known to take all of my econ classes with her and saved myself a lot of misery. She is the best professor in the economics department (in my opinion, I've never taken a class with Surro, but I hear that he is good as well) and I think that going with her is the best option for 103 or 104.

Good lecturer, but her class itself isn't the easiest. The group assignments make up 15% of your grade, but they don't take much time. The midterms are online, but they are still quite difficult with notes. The final is in-person but you are allowed a fairly large cheat sheet, but it is also difficult. For all the tests, there are some confusing questions that can be misinterpreted. On the bright side, she is an interesting lecturer and connects the course to current news. Also, the class is hybrid, so you can watch lectures on zoom or in person.

I took Econ 103 with professor Boswell. She is the most understanding Econ professor I have met. She cares about not overloading their students with work so that they can find meaning from the projects she assigns. Despite this is a hard class, she provides you with all the resources to succeed. My only feedback is that solutions to practice finals were provided for extra practice. Overall a great experience.
