Quarter: Spring 2023

Overall, the workload for this class was extremely manageable -- there were 3 group worksheets throughout the quarter that were relatively easy, especially when split between the group. Additionally, the 2 midterms and final were very fair. Our midterms were on canvas and the final was in person. My one quarrel with this class was the extreme down curve that we were not made aware of. My final grade was an 86%, but got down-curved to a C+, which was really upsetting. I'm pretty sure the curve was only really bad for this particular quarter BUT, just in case, make sure you're acing everything if you want to get a B or above in the class.

First off don't let the individual below who is high on his/her ego full you. Congrats you wanted everyone to know you beat the curve! Bravo! However they left out one key note; the class is down curved.

The class is overall easy, it consists of two midterms, 3 group assignments, and 1 final. The midterms are short and easy overall. The final allows 1 cheat sheet but the finals are recycled from previous quarters so your best off studying those. Group assignments are easy but be careful not to get screwed as you work as a group for the assignment but your final grade in the class your competing among each other. The final is easy just study and do mind tap. However the one problem in this class is informing the class that grades won't be down curved only to drastically curve the class the the day before grades are due. Overall the content and material itself is not hard rather interesting but your better off finding a class who won't down curve. Econ 1 with Ohanian is a much better option if you want an engaging professor who wants the best for his students and doesn't overload material.

Boswell made Econ 2 as optimal as it could be. Some kids (as Biz Econ majors like to do) enjoyed complaining that she would go too fast or present too much material. She had to get through the chapters in ten week, which is not her fault. Also, her exams were not hard whatsoever, and the final was simple with a cheat sheet option. The homeworks were straightforward and easy to ace (also, besides the 3 assignments, there was no homework). In my opinion, the primary reason people struggled was because they didn't pay attention. I would recommend taking. Much better than Ohanian.

This class was great as there was also a zoom option. The workload is super manageable as the homework assignments are all completed with a group of your choice. She is good at teaching, although she goes a little fast. She also allows you to use a cheat sheet for the final.

Good lecturer, but her class itself isn't the easiest. The group assignments make up 15% of your grade, but they don't take much time. The midterms are online, but they are still quite difficult with notes. The final is in-person but you are allowed a fairly large cheat sheet, but it is also difficult. For all the tests, there are some confusing questions that can be misinterpreted. On the bright side, she is an interesting lecturer and connects the course to current news. Also, the class is hybrid, so you can watch lectures on zoom or in person.

Some of the content gets confusing fast, but is manageable if you do Mindtap practice questions. The content before the first midterm isn't bad, the second midterm is where it gets more difficult. The exams are open book which helps a lot and the questions are pretty fair. She also gives practice midterms which completely reflect the difficulty of the actual exams. No curve though at least for my class. I would take this class with Boswell if you can.

This class was both wonderful and confusing. The good parts were that the Professor showed a passion for the subject and tried to help us apply concepts to real-life examples through group projects focusing on real-life situations. The materials chosen typically helped clarify things covered in class and were not difficult to obtain. The bad parts were that sometimes topics became convoluted due to mistakes made during lectures or on tests and some of the material listed in the syllabus was never covered due to a lack of time in the course. The class could have been planned better and a few of the materials contained mistakes, however I feel confident in the subjects that we did cover.

I think I have to preface this by saying that a lot of my struggle came from my poor studying habits. I got destroyed by the second midterm but did well on the first midterm + final so ended with an A-. Prof Boswell seems like a very genuine person who wants to help you learn, and a pretty cool person overall. However, I didn't love/mesh with her lecture style much -- she wasn't the most engaging in my opinion and I found myself dozing off quite a bit (for comparison I love Surro's lecture style and format). Also Boswell always had the coolest drip so I have to respect her for that.

Professor Boswell is the best professor!! Her lectures are super clear and she always relates the material to relevant situations within the economy. She is super helpful and answers any questions/concerns in office hours. I would highly recommend attending Professor Boswell's office hours. The class consists of group homeworks, 2 midterms, and a final. If you can definitely take a class with her!
