Loved this class, and professor is the best! Highly recommend.

Loved this class! Honestly my favorite class taken at UCLA, really really recommend.

The workload was very manageable-- there are readings for each class (which tbh I didn't read but I still could participate in class discussions fine) and weekly writing assignments which don't take too long.

The class structure usually consisted of us discussing the readings, doing some writing or editing exercises, and then getting into pairs and editing each others' writing assignments. It's a small class, so you get to connect with your classmates and the prof. The professor is super chill and she was really understanding when I had to miss a class because I was sick.

The grading is also really easy-- you start off at an A- and if you do all the work, you stay at an A-. Once in the middle of the quarter and once at the end of the quarter, you evaluate how you think you did in the class and argue for what grade you deserve.

again, highly recommend!! I met so many cool people in this class and tbh it is a big reason why I'm applying for the Professional Writing minor :))

Professor Laura was extremely understanding and helpful during this fall quarter. She holds one-on-one conferences for each of our essays and gives feedback for us to improve for the essay. The class was engaging and the writing assignments due before each class was helpful and interesting. There were no midterms or final, only 3 essays, each weigh 25%, and the last 25% was for participation/completion of the writing assignments. She tries to engage the class and create fun activities, and I really appreciate her for doing this. She also holds office hours for extra help if you need inspirations or ideas for your essay! Overall, Professor Laura is one of my favorite professor and I would definitely take this class again.
