I was really scared for this class because I read reviews about him for the other classes he taught and got the impression that he was really difficult. I ended up thoroughly enjoying it. Professor Pilon seems scary at first but he's actually really funny and engaging, and I never felt like falling asleep in his class. It was the first engineering class I took that I felt the professor actually taught me enough in class that I didn't need to read the book or go to office hours extensively in order to understand the concepts. The midterm and final were relatively fair and easy. As long as you put in a good amount of time studying you will able to do well; they weren't designed to trick you and the free response questions were much like the homework. If you get the chance to take 105A with Pilon, do it. From what I've heard, he's definitely the best option.
