Very good teacher!!! If you work hard, you can get high grade. I only get A because I have made too many calculation mistake in the exams....But that's my own fault, not professor's. The homework is burden....Workload is large, it takes me about 10-20 hours a weekend to finish them! I spent almost whole weekend to do them.

This class is really difficult because of the material, but the professor herself is pretty good at teaching, although she tends to go fast and sometimes she skips over small details that can make things confusing real quick if you're not paying attention. The lectures are all recorded so I recommend watching them at your own pace and going back/rewatching parts if you're confused. The professor is really helpful if you have individual questions and she responds to email, so as long as you ask her your questions you should be okay.

I was excited to take this class with Professor Jin because I saw she had a Bruinwalk rating of 4.3 and several positive reviews. I have never been faced with a more bold-faced lie in my life. Jin is one of the most stress-inducing, unhelpful professors I have ever taken a class with. She spends so much lecture time doing tedious derivations in class (of equations we are already given) and as a result she skips over important information you need for the homework and tests. She's incredibly unhelpful when trying to answer simple homework questions and often made things even more confusing. The TAs for my quarter were some of the most incompetent people I've ever met, and their discussions were about as useful as using a tissue to dry up the goddamn pacific ocean. Her tests are also nearly impossible to complete in the given amount of time. I don't know how much she must've paid these other students to boost her reviews, but they're absolutely wrong. Don't get your hopes up.

This class was pretty tough, but Professor Jin is a great professor to have for it. She had clear slides, very clear explanations, and fair tests. She would give extra credit for finding mistakes or asking good questions in class. She is very helpful and available for students in office hours and over email. I would go and sit in her office hours and do homework and she was very helpful with that. The homeworks took a bit of time for this class, but overall it was a good class.

I don't agree with the other reviewer at all from this quarter, aside from them calling out the TAs for having useless discussions (that part is 100% true).

The distribution was 15% homework, 35% midterm, and 50% final, which seems daunting, but given that there weren't any surprises on the midterm or final, it was completely fair. Jin was a fantastic lecturer. Her derivations, while very drawn-out, were very helpful in giving you an in-depth explanation in where the equations came from, and what assumptions were made to arrive at different conclusions. Homework was definitely tough and took a long time to complete, The problems were very similar to example problems she went over in class, but with a twist that was sometimes hard to see at first. But Jin was always extremely eager to answer any questions I had. She was willing to stay as long as I needed after class to help me figure out all the minutia. Additionally, she was very responsive to emails. Tests were very fair; they were definitely more on the time-crunch side, but if you fully understand every homework problem and every example problem, you would have no problem finishing on time and scoring well on them. I did spend about 10-15 hours a week on this class, so don't expect it to be a walk in the park. But if you are willing to put in the effort and spend additional time outside of the class reviewing the notes and example problems done during lecture, you will definitely be successful.

Professor's lectures are pretty good. The derivations in class can be a bit long and confusing, but they are luckily not tested much. Homework was due weekly and is pretty difficult. Test problems are very similar to homework and discussion problems. Overall, go to lecture and do homework and you'll do fine.
