I LOVED this class. As a Gender Studies major I had no idea what I was getting into by taking a Russian course but I am so glad I did. Lilya is a fantastic professor and has a lot of knowledge about Russian literature and cinema. The final grade is based on participation, attendance, and three 5-7 page papers throughout the quarter. I genuinely looked forward to going to this class and would highly recommend it to others. It is one of the more challenging Gender Studies courses I've taken but still stress-free and worth it. If you can you should definitely take this class.
DR. K is the gold of UCLA. Hella educated, bright, and charismatic. Her class is really interesting: the readings are fun to read, but you HAVE TO FINISH and actually do close readings to process it. So take it, work on it, and you will be fine.
