This class wasn't quite as easy as I was expecting but still completely fair and doable. The class is broken into 5 grading criteria:
- 25% Final
- 20% Midterm
- 20% Homework (lowest dropped)
- 20% Quizzes (lowest dropped)
- 15% Labs (lowest dropped)
I didn't go to pretty much any of the discussion sections just fyi. The labs weren't that bad, but I consistently got a few points off here and there. The HW was fairly easy and short!! The midterm and final were, in my opinion, very fair. Just do the practice problems she provides, they're very similar but there are a few tricky questions. The quizzes started off hard, and if you don't do well on the first few don't blame yourself. It takes a second to adjust to them but I promise they'll get easier (at least they did for me). Prof herself is super nice and helpful! Def recommend going to office hours if you have questions as she's super willing to help. The class was overall fairly stress free and pretty enjoyable!
Professor Zanontian is sweet and this class was pretty easy. There were weekly assignments that took like 30 mins, as well as biweekly Lab assignments in R that took an hour or two. The TA went over the weekly assignments in discussion too. The tests were online and easy if you kept up with the class. I didn't study for them and got 100s, but I also took AP Stat in high school which definitely helped bc I had already seen all this material before. But I also still went to all the lectures and made sure I knew what was happening. But it's literally just a fast-paced AP Stat. I would def recommend reading the textbook as well if you didn't take AP and even if you did tbh bc it was a great review.
Professor Zanontian spoke kind of quickly sometimes and I also wasn't super sure if she knew the content super well but at least the class was easy. She'll kind of speak to everyone like middle schoolers but I guess that's better than overestimating what we know and totally skipping over things?? Responds great to questions usually. Definitely encourages class participation and will ask for answers from the class.
Neither lecture, Lab, nor discussion were required but I would recommend going to all because otherwise how are you gonna know how to do the Lab assignments and in Discussion you can make sure you get 100% on the weekly assignments which will give you cushion for the tests. My TA was Sophie and she was great and definitely is knowledgeable about coding. I highly recommend her for your TA.
I never went to Office Hours bc I never needed it but it might be helpful to go if you didn't take AP Stat.
Prof. Zanontian is extremely nice and patient with her students, and this class is easy enough if you follow the rules and put in the work. Class material basically covers the first half of AP Statistics, so if you've taken that understanding the material should be a breeze. The only difficult part was the coding labs, where we needed to learn and utilize R. I ended up basically teaching myself because I had a horrible TA and I would get even more confused by going to section. The easiest way to make sure you got the questions right though was to go to the professor's or TA office hours. The only downside to this class is that Prof. Zanontian is an unbearably slow lecturer, and because lecture wasn't mandatory and I already had a background from AP Stats, I just never went to lecture. It was much more convenient to watch the lectures on 2x speed. I still got an A, so it definitely worked out for me.
Very easy prof, she explains things very simply. This class honestly might have been too easy in the sense that we didnt tackle as much theory we should have (idk tho).
The grading are tests were easy. She emphasized a lot on the applications of the content, rather than the theory (which ig is good sometimes).
