Lisa Kim Davis is very monotone and quite boring but overall I recommend taking her. There is one midterm and no in-class final. I got an A- in the class without reading the entire books. As long as you read the chapters she discusses in class you will be fine. The term paper requires some work and research but it's not that bad. Easy B and a little work for an A
If I had one word to describe her Urban Geography class, it would be "yawn". I was mildly interested in it before, and thought she might really go into exciting modern urban planning and population distribution patterns. I had less interest in the subject after the class. She just kind of rambled on forever about the Olympics and Korea. I don't have anything against those subjects, but even though I could tell SHE cared about them, she did not do a good job of getting US to care about them. Her voice is quiet and dull, and she is extremely disorganized. I never knew what I should write down when she went off on a tangent of some specific example in Seoul. She really needs to learn how to use powerpoints and outlines for her lectures. The class wasn't that difficult, but I would say avoid her unless you are really passionate about the subject and can tolerate messy lectures with NO powerpoints - all you see is her standing up there yapping and the occasional picture slide.
