Fairly easy class but the professor was very disorganized. There were times where she didn’t tell us if class would be in person or not. Kinda confusing at times. The actual material was quite interesting. There are two big essays (7 pages) and two smaller ones. There are no tests, only essays. We had to do a small group presentation which was only about 5 minutes so not too bad. The class was quite easy but the TA was much more helpful. I would recommend this class for an easy GE, however, be warned that you may be confused at times because the professor does not explain things clearly.
i'm not even done with this class yet but i'm just gonna proceed to say i hate it. The professor was really passionate about what she teaches but i stopped going to lecture after week 2. i'm a stem kid so maybe that's why i can't really dive into any of the creative literary works/media that she presents in class, but as an asian american myself (who is relatively connected to their mother culture) i had zero incentive to learn about anything she shows us. the essay prompts are insanely vague and boring. i live a colorful life and have a lot of cultural stories to tell but the prompts do not allow me to do that. instructions are always super unclear. professor is bad at technology. all she does is read through powerpoints & you basically have to figure out all of the writing/analysis stuff on your own. 0/10 would not recommend.
I liked this class, the material was pretty cool and interesting. The professor is a badass and amazing but sometimes the lectures can be a little slow bc of the material. The lectures were delivered in a hybrid format (you could attend lecture in person or over zoom) and recorded which was super accessible. I had to take a pass bc I got covid in the middle of the quarter but the deadlines were actually super manageable; two 7 page papers including their rough drafts and brainstorming assignments. Not bad at all, but the prompts were very vague so I'd suggest talking things over with your TA to make things easier for yourself (the TAs are amazing so you can definitely ask them lots of questions!). I'd definitely recommend this for a W2 class.
