(GE Cluster: History of Modern Thought)
GREAT professor, GREAT class.
There's a lot of reading, but it really makes you think (in a good way). The tests were not meant to trick you or about memorizing random facts. Basically, if you pay attention, you will do great. The lectures were not as important as discussions. Naomi Taback is an AMAZING TA! She helped us understand all the readings and we discussed all the important parts. I didn't read every section of every book, but as long as you understand the main concepts, you will do great. I definitely recommend this class!
(Course taken: GE CLUSTER 21A)
Effectiveness: Professor Hunt is great at communicating the material to the class. She definitely has a passion for what she does and her lectures are presented with emotion in every word.
Difficulty: The GE Cluster material is not difficult, but there is a rather a lot of reading for a first-quarter freshman class. Like with most history classes, read and understand the material, and you should easily get an A.
Concern/Availability: Both professors who teach the cluster (Hunt and Jacob) are concerned with their students' progress, and go as far as having lunch with their students throughout the quarter to ensure they are acquainted with as many students as possible.
Overall: Professor Hunt is an amazing professor, especially for an entering freshman.
GE Cluster 21A
Prof. Hunt is a great instructor! She is incredibly smart and enjoys talking with students every day about anything and everything. She likes getting to know students and like helping them with questions and concerns they have. Her lectures are well thought out and very good. She has a lot of knowledge and knows what she is talking about when she lectures. She is also very funny and helps keep the lectures fun. She is a great duo with Prof. Jacobs and I definitely recommend the GE Cluster with her. As long as you're keeping up with the reading and understanding the main ideas that go with each philosopher, you'll do fine in this class.
