I absolutely recommend Comm1 - ESPECIALLY with Litvinsky. Although the idea of a public speaking class is very daunting (especially to me, as I freeze up in front of any audience), Professor Litvinsky does the PERFECT job of easing you right in and teaching you the ropes of public speaking. She is so extremely understanding of the fact that public speaking does not come easily to everyone, yet at the same time, she does a great job of making every student feel accepted and confident. She is kind, funny, easygoing, and brings an energy to class that is unmatched. This class consists of 3 speeches -- 1 introductory speech (1-2 minutes long), 1 informative speech (5 minutes long), and 1 persuasive speech (5-7 minutes long). You give these speeches in front of the class and then write a short reflection afterwards saying what you learned and what you want to improve on. Classes consist of impromptu practice speeches (ungraded), which sound scary but she gives you tips on how to captivate your audience. If you're a pre-Comm major or just want an easy but AWESOME GE, TAKE COMM1 WITH LITVINSKY!
