The ratings are spot on: mediocre across the board. I didn't mind too much, since I didn't care about the material very much. He would randomly leave the lectures to be taught by either the TA or a guest lecturer, and quality-wise it didn't really matter.
The TA matters a lot for the projects, since he grades them exclusively (and they are worth a lot of your grade), and ours was an asshole. Sorry to the people that demoed their project to him. Luckily it was too much work for one person, so I got to demo to someone with a soul.
I got an A.
I did study hard for the midterm and the final though. Used the textbook and the TA Xiao Li was a beast.
Without him i was failing the class.
Projects are doable.Project 2 took time but we could work with two partners(total 3 in a team)
Lectures were useless, barely went. This is coming from a student who never misses lectures unless something imp is happening. tl dr do not go to his lectures, they suck and you wont learn anything.
Material isnt too bad and i am interested in networking. My recommendation is to take it with Gerla unless you want expand your knowledge in the field. I had a heavy workload and this class worked out well in that scheme of things.
Summary : Ok/Bad Prof, Kick ass TA(Xiao Li), Fun projects, fair finals. Study for it/Put in effort u will get a good grade.
