This was the second course i took with micheli. the first midterm was easy (once you figured out fairly easy to catch shortcuts). the second midterm was more difficult! and the final was difficult. the good thing about micheli for this class was he's good at drawing diagrams (when taking notes, i spent a lot of it just staring at his wonderful diagrams), and this course needs it. micheli was more theoretical this quarter, but again, extremely caring and wonderful! definitely recommend!
Professor Micheli is an excellent professor. Very organized and always punctual with posting up homework and midterm grades. He also posts up all his lecture notes before the final and they were helpful in studying for the final (although many people including myself got owned)
His tests are very difficult. First midterm was standard, but second midterm and the final were serial killers. They were nothing like the homework, and super conceptual. He teaches well, but his tests are just impossibly hard. To do well in his course, you have to truly understand the material and concepts. His classes are difficult, but he tries his best to have as many office hours as possible and will even meet with you on individual basis if you inquire so. He is a great guy, but be sure to really study and know your math if you take his classes.
Professor Micheli is the best Math professor in UCLA in my opinion. He is just so kind he always take teaching as the most enjoyable thing in his life. He gives extension office hours he is so considerate as I am really moved by him. If people take professor Weisbart very considerate then professor Micheli should be extremely considerate. Yes, his test is hard but it really the problem is interesting he really test you whether you understand the material completely. His curve is also very good and for those good students you could easily standout by doing well in his midterm and finals. However, I feel really disappointed that he is not going to stay in UCLA for next academic year and I really do not understand why UCLA keep professor who gives insane lectures and useless tests but not keep professor Micheli who is devoted himself to teaching. As I have known for now he still has not found a job in any university. It is so sad~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
