Dr. Gomez is the man, definitely take this class with him if you can :)
This is obviously an education class. Every lecture, you will discuss different topics like creating a lesson plan, social justice in school, etc. You will also spend 3 hours per week at a high school.
You will have to make one lesson for your lecture class, plus one lesson for your high school classroom.
There's also a weekly reading and a reflection, but nothing too hard.
Overall this class is really fun, easy, and interesting. Basically everyone gets an A as long as you do what you are required to do.
This is a pretty chill class. If you're considering a career in high school science teaching (or even if you're interested in learning more about science education), this is the class for you! You'll have a 3 hr seminar once a week with Gomez, and a couple of hours of fieldwork each week in a HS classroom (it was remote during covid). Gomez tried to make seminar engaging, and though some of the seminar presentations were a bit lengthy/uninteresting, it was pretty worthwhile overall. One of the main projects for the quarter was a group presentation based on a CSET topic (the CSET is basically a test you take to prepare for becoming a science teacher); students would take turns presenting (one group per week), and I was really impressed by the quality of the presentations! I felt like the seminar environment was very supportive overall, even on Zoom.
tl;dr - take this class if you're looking for an easy, upper div class and you're considering a career in science education; as long as you do all of the assignments, it should be a pretty easy A!
