Professor Tassy:
First off, Tassy is gorgeous, both with short hair and long hair. He's also French. (Try to find a video of him on YouTube of him purring.) But with that out of the way, his accent wasn't too strong, but his writing can be a bit difficult to read sometimes. He would write n with two arches and m with three arches, and he would sometimes cross his t way off of the stem. As long as you follow along, you should be fine. He was relatively good at teaching, for me personally. But unfortunately, a lot of my classmates didn't feel the same. He did a lot of proofs that didn't really offer anything towards understanding the content, and it took up a lot of class time where he could have done more examples. And he was the first professor after three quarters here that no one clapped after his last lecture ended. I thought that was pretty sad.

TA:
"Anakin" Yui was my TA, and I didn't really like him. He was very shy and a little quiet. He wouldn't really answer questions that well. And almost every time after discussion, he'd email us and tell us he made a mistake. So I stopped going. I didn't feel he was very helpful.

Homework grade: 100/108 92.59%
There were 9 12-point homeworks due every Friday. There were relatively few problems, maybe 10 per homework. They came out of the book, and many of them were odd numbers, so if you had the solution manual, you should be solid.

Midterm 1 grade: 42/50 84%
He sent out a practice midterm and solutions. (I had to correct him on some of the solutions he sent out.) The midterm was 5 problems with multiple parts, each problem worth 10 points. I didn't feel like it was relatively challenging.

Midterm 2 grade: 37/50 74%
He also sent out a practice midterm with solutions. (I also had to correct him on some solutions.) This midterm was not cumulative. This midterm was similarly formatted, 5 problems with multiple parts, 10 points for each problem. This midterm was slightly more difficult.

Final grade: 39/100 39%
My goodness I did bad on this exam. He really rushed the end of the course, which contained the most difficult stuff, so there wasn't a lot of time to grasp these concepts. I know a lot of other people struggled with them. The final was 10 problems with multiple parts, 10 points per problem. I left a lot of questions incomplete and blank. This is by far my worst exam.

Overall grade: B-
Thank the lord this class was curved, that's all I have to say.

i took math 3c with tassy in the fall (2014), and got a B+ (which is pretty good considering im god awful at math) in comparison to other professors who taught 3c he's pretty straight forward. he has an accent so be warned that youre going to have a hard time understanding him. he just does examples in lecturer, which can sometimes be hard to follow cuz. he also likes spending time on proofs, even though he'll never ask you to prove anything. but his 2 midterms and final ask pretty straight forward questions that you would understand if you understand the weekly hw that is assigned.

the key to sucess in this class is to get a good TA. i hope a horrible TA, and just stopped going to that discussion and found another TA who was way better. the concepts in the class get pretty tricky and quickly move from probability into calculus by the second midterm. so just be warned. i saw what some other math 3c professors were asking of their students and some of it was way out there compared to what Tassy was teaching, which is only the basics. so if youre gonna take math 3c take it with tassy
