Do not take this course with this professor if you are able to, I am a graduating senior so I had no other choice. I will say the prof is very versed and knowledgeable about the course material but that was about it.

The lectures were very difficult to understand and her slides were mainly pictures with barely any text so it was very difficult to study for. Also some exam questions were extremely tricky and tested us on stuff we never even learned in lecture and she probably did this to "make the curve".

She is very condescending as well and I went to her OH one time and she would barely try to explain to me the reasoning behind the answer to a test question. Clearly does not care about her students and our well-being and more concerned with her own things.

Also, grading was not transparent at all. She said she curved up the grades but would never say by how much and did so arbitrarily do that she could maintain the curve. And she said we would get extra points for filling out the course evaluations as stated in the syllabus but never addressed this so people do not know if the points were even added. She will try everything in her power to "maintain the curve" and that seemed to be the only thing she really cared about.

AVOID HER AT ALL COST!!!!! She was HORRIBLE. She was worse than coronavirus. I took her final a few days the school decided to shut down and it was an extremely turbulent time but she refused to accommodate for the final. The material of the class was not that crazy but she made this class terrible. I was glad that her TAs were very helpful, or else I would fail this class.

DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS!!!!! SHE IS EVIL !!!!!! She does not have any respect for her students, she thinks shes the best person on this planet, however she is so evil. The whole class was failing and instead of helping us she just made it harder and said its normal. She literally destroyed everyone GPA and would laugh about it and say "in Australia the students are so much better." I got very ill because of this class. What ever you do do not take her class. There is a reason there is no grade distribution its because everyone failed. She is the meanest person i have ever met don't get trapped, avoid her at all cost for your own well being.

- She is, by far, my least favorite professor at UCLA so far. Poor teaching style aside, she made it very clear that she was not very interested in student learning or teaching. Her unfriendliness and overall condescending attitude during office hours were unacceptable. When students ask her questions, it was visibly apparent that she was annoyed. She would give two sentence responses, expecting you to understand it. She posted a negative tweet, was very sarcastic, and overall, unreceptive to feedback on anything.

- This class took a lot of deciphering on your own. While the material itself is not intensely challenging, she made it difficult to understand by framing everything in the context of experiments. She would never start off with the definition of a term or explain it; she dove straight in to the experiment, and by the time you find out what the conclusion is, you're just confused about what the prior 15 minutes meant. If you went to discussion or TA office hours, they did a good job explaining it! I would not solely blame Professor Sharpe for the incredibly poor test scores because I do think it takes some work on your own and initiative to ask for help from TA's about confusing terms. Could she have made it a little easier for us? Definitely. But the active discussion board on ccle and TA's made it more bearable.

- On the syllabus, it said there would be absolutely no scaling of exams, but since the average for both midterms was below 80, she scaled us up, luckily. The midterms were poorly written. I honestly don't think she understands the concept of all of the above multiple choice questions! Many confusing language.

- save yourself the headache and take 110 with someone else. Bad teacher + good character is one thing. Good teacher + bad character is another. But this.... bad teacher and bad character is unacceptable.

Professor Sharpe was very kind. She really put effort into her lectures and made the information we're learning very interesting. The course was made up of Quizzes that were 40%, and commentary 1 (20%), and commentary 2 (40%). The quizzes were based on lectures and were easy if you paid attention in class. She dropped the lowest of 5. I got 5/5 on all of them except 1. The only issue I had w/ this class was getting through the papers. They were dense and hard to read. But she really breaks them down in lecture. The commentaries were 2 pages each, and she gives you pointers on how to write them. You can even be a little creative w/ it (she wants you to).

Professor Sharpe is a confusing lecturer, and her slides have a lot of experiments that you have to know in detail. The tests were also confusing as well, but she seemed to want to be there for students and was willing to talk with people in office hours. Discussion sections were extra credit, and you could also do SONA studies for extra credit. So even though the tests were difficult, the extra credit really helps. The lectures were also asynchronous and I often found myself rewatching lectures to try to understand the material. Just make sure you're prepapred to put in quite a bit of effort for this class.

Bro the professors lectures suck and aren’t even related to what we are tested on. Everyone did poorly and constantly complained about the unfair tests we all failed. There’s no homework or practice questions either so its hard to prepare. Also, the quizzes are so short that they really dont help your final grade at all. :(((

This class is a regret that I'll remember for the rest of my academic endeavors. This "professor" is the reason that I will, from now on reference bruinwalk reviews. Seriously unprofessional, reusing slides from almost a year ago due to covid. The slides are from the notorious class of winter 2020 in which the reviews speak for themselves. From rants on twitter to bitter conversations that she believes won't see the light of day, this "professor" is actually unbelievable. The test material is not hard, it is the delivery and testing of the material that is. This class should be called reading comprehension 110 because unless you have a dozen tabs open and 100+ slides that are merged before each examination/quiz, you will not get the questions right. Sharpe believes that grade distributions=evidence of learning. The extra credit isn't optional, it's a necessity for the grade distribution and for many, a lifeline to pass. If you get covid and are sick, make sure the note states that "this student cannot participate in _______" because even if you're sick, the validity of the doctor's note will be questioned and you will be forced to get another. It's a shame that this experience is achievable at UCLA.

I never usually review professors but when it came to this professor, I know I had to warn other students. Do yourself a MASSIVE favor and DO NOT take this class/professor. Worst class I have ever taken in college. I am a straight A student and I found myself barely passing this class because of how she teaches & the way she structured this class. Her exams are tricky, questionable, and they do not, in my opinion, actually test your knowledge of the course material. I feel like I lost brain cells reading her questions. They were confusing and sometimes did not make sense at all. I was very interested in the course at first but Professor Sharpe made me hate this course and reevaluate pursuing Psychology as a whole.
