I had Alfaro for LS1.

He is a really nice guy and loves what he does. He is kinda dorky in a way and I enjoyed having him as a professor. His teaching is decent; he mainly puts pictures on his powerpoints and then talks a lot about the information, so you have to take some detailed notes. There were things that I didn't think were relevant but that showed up in practice problems when preparing for his midterm, so I had to go back and rewatch a lot of his podcasts (ughhhhhhhh). He also tends to ask questions to the class, then go off on some long tangent, then return to the question and ask us what we think, and most people of us just look around like "What even was the question?" But he's a pretty good teacher to take for LS1 overall, and he's super helpful in office hours.

I've heard that if you take LS1, taking it with Alfaro/Lloyd-Smith is the best option, so I highly recommend! I enjoyed the class.
