Fall 2024 - If you don't like math, don't take this class. If you don't like numerical methods, don't take this class. If you don't like coding, don't take this class. If you're not going to do a PhD/go into research, don't take this class. This class is a combination of multivariable calculus, solving partial differential equations, and coding some pretty hard stuff in Python. Professor Stenstrom is honestly very sweet and attempts to be helpful but the concepts taught in this course are very difficult if your background in math is not superior. The class being online didn't help either. Overall I wouldn't recommend someone to take this course and instead take a different class such as 250A.

Winter 2025 - Overall a pretty good-ok class. You can tell Professor Stenstrom is very passionate about this topic and even showed us many pictures of him out in the field (over 20 years ago) and how it relates to class topics. He held office hours often in the event that anyone needed additional support. Good/crucial class if you are planning to work in wastewater. Overall a good 8 out of 10 for the class Feedback: 1. The folder uploads could be a bit more organized. It was pretty difficult to find where items were uploaded to Canvas. 2. Switch to making assignments on canvas instead of emailing every assignment. 3. Additional practice problems would be helpful in solidifying concepts, and working through at least one would be very helpful in understanding formulas. 4. Some of the Excel/homework problems were excruciatingly confusing. A recorded lecture of a walk through would help a ton in understanding why and what we're doing the task.
