GREAT PROFESSOR! not the best lecturer but REAL EASY!!! I EXTREMELY RECOMMEND HIM! THESE PEOPLE who are rating him bad and giving him bad comments ARE STUPID because this has been one of my easiest classes at ucla. People that come to bruinwalk are so negative about the professors!

Curry is a really nice guy, but the class is kind of weird. I went in expecting a typical geography course, but it turned out to be very random (although sometimes interesting!) topics. The two papers we had to write were pretty easy, however, I think success in the class was dependent on the TA. The midterm and the final were based on readings in the coursebook that were sometimes very tedious. Attending lecture is a must because he does not post lecture notes online, and the majority of his "ID" questions come from class. I suggest bringing a laptop so you can just write down everything he says and also be able to amuse yourself as lecture get a little boring :)

Curry is not as bad as these ratings make him out to be. Sure he's kinda boring, but his class is just so easy. The only effort I put into the class was right before the exams where all i did was read the readings. And the two papers we had to write, though they were on pretty trivial topics, were really easy to do.

So overall, Curry's not that bad. Just try to stay awake in class and read the readings before exams, and you'll do great.

He has pretty good personalities and even tried to help out his students outside his office hours. HOWEVER, cultural geography with him was so difficult. i initially walked into his class thinking i'll learn about different cultures and geography. throughout the quarter, he talked about some vague theory that i think he developed himself. his lectures were almost impossible to understand because it was so confusing. the only way to get an A in this course is to write down every single word he says in class and sort of memorize the important concepts. that's how i managed to get an A on the finals after getting my first C midterm in this course.

professor curry MAKES ABSOLUTELY NO SENSE! AVOID!

I think that Curry does a good job because the material he teaches seems to be difficult to teach in the first place. However if you pay attention you'll understand what he is talking about. Yeah, the lectures go slow but you still learn to see the world in a different perspective. To do well you have to write well.

I took Curry for Geography 3 and it was the worst class I have ever taken. I read all the articles on time and didn't miss a single lecture or discussion, but I still ended up with a C+. My TA was horrible and he was the one who graded the midterms and papers...Curry doesn't see any of the work you do. The articles are long and boring and really don't seem to relate to anything about geography. I agree that even after taking the class for a quarter, I still have no clue as to what geography 3 is about.

ugh... whatever you do, DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS! this professor is like the boriest professor there is... he gives a whole mess of reading for hw and expects you to finish like around 150 pages over 2 days. He fails to realize that the students have other classes too. During his boring lectures, he goes off on tangents about his family and how he has to fly from New Jersey to here. The course name also has nothing to do with what u attempt to learn. DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS!

Oh my gosh, do NOT take this class! It is so boring that five minutes into lecture students are dropping like flies. The setup of the class itself isn't bad. There's two parts, each begins with a video and then there are readings
and lectures. Professor Curry is enthusiastic about his subject, but just can't seem to entice everyone else into loving geography. My TA was a tough grader, I don't think Curry ever sees your papers or exams, so make in good with your TA. I took it for the GE requirement and thats all I got. Not highly recommended class or professor.
