She is one of the nicest professors I've ever had, and is very concerned about student learning. One of my favorite things about the course is that she designed it so the exams are not cumulative; she told us she has done it both ways and that she has seen overall better scores with a non-cumulative structure, and I really appreciate that. It is very nice to learn a topic, be tested on it, and then move on without having to keep that information in the back of your mind while you try to learn other things. The worksheets each week are great to test your applied knowledge, and the TA will usually go over the most difficult problems, if not the whole worksheet. The exams are very fair, the only complaint is that there are often questions with options like "A, B, C, A and B, B and C" etc., which often make you second guess yourself. However, I can understand that this is probably a good way of testing deeper knowledge, it is just more difficult. The short answers of the tests are well structured, often with a portion where you simply circle an answer to fill in a sentence or write in a word, as well as more detailed explanation/extended response problems. However, if you pay attention to the lectures, you really will be fine! She is also very generous and allows you to miss 3 lectures without penalty. Sometimes she goes through her lectures a bit fast or goes on tangents when she finds something very interesting, but she will make it very clear what you actually will be tested on, and often what she speeds through is less important anyway.

Also-my TA Mikala was wonderful and probably the largest reason for my deeper learning in the class!

Having read the previous reviews, I was scared when I first took this class with her, but Professor Dragojlovic is the sweetest professor I have ever met in my two years at UCLA. She is straightforward and clear when it comes to lecturing. She uses slides and gives concise and understandable explanations. She also tells you directly when there is a topic you do not need to study for the test. She is very generous with points, in that she opens up iClicker polls for those who came in late, assigns short worksheets that are graded based on completion, and gives extra credit through end-of-the-quarter course evaluations. Her tests are as straightforward as her lectures and do not contain any surprises. The questions are reflective of everything she taught in class and she may add in a few "thinking" questions, but these are not too difficult and can be done. I don't know if the above descriptions pertain to all of her other classes, but if the classes she teaches is anything like this one, then you should be good just going through her lectures, revisiting any worksheet questions, and doing practice questions when it comes to studying for the test. Most of it is memorization, so if you are good at memorizing, then you will do well. I won't go into the details of this course specifically because it will no longer be offered, but all in all, Professor Dragojlovic is a great teacher and you should not be concerned about taking classes taught by her.

Not sure why her reviews are so harsh, I genuinely enjoyed her lectures and she was so helpful and straightforward. Much of her exam questions are exactly like her lecture content just pay close attention to things she says rather than just the slides. The material is dense and can get difficult but she does a really good job at making it totally doable as long as you put in the time outside to study. I would definitely recommend her!

This professor was so helpful! I am not even sure why her rating is so low. I attended office hours several times with her throughout the quarter and she was always so open to answering students' questions even if they weren't relevant to the course material. In our last review before the final she would even point out that we didn't need to know certain things for the test. As for the class, it was made up of weekly worksheets that were very helpful in keeping me on track with the material. There are two midterms and the final is pretty much just a third midterm because it only covers the last third of the class material. Attendance to lecture was pretty much mandatory because of the clicker questions she had during class. The textbook also isn't really required but it was pretty helpful when I was a bit confused on certain topics. All in all, the class was really interesting and the professor is so amazing.

Guess what premeds, I'm not even a biology related major (I'm a CS major taking this as tech breadth btw haHAA) and I got an A.

Honestly all you need to do is to memorize the slides and a little bit of logic behind some biochemical mechanisms. The final consists of 93 multiple choice problems and by simply regurgitating what's written on the slides you can solve 80% of the problems.

A bunch of extra credits are given. Homework assignments are essentially free points.

Those of you who draw analogies to Amazon Alexa should definitely try taking some hardcore engineering lectures in Boelter. Compared to those you will feel that Professor Dragojlovic is your savior.

I have to agree with the most recent reviews, I do not understand why she has such a low rating! The prof is very kind and understanding that students have lives and lots of other things going on. During the fires this year she was extremely accommodating and more helpful than other professors I had. While I received a B in this class, it is because there is simply an unbelievable amount of information to memorize; however I don't think this is particular to professor dragojlovic. We had 2 midterms (not cumulative) and a final (cumulative). The midterms had about half and half multiple choice and free response while the final was only multiple choice. She gives worksheets each week that are due in discussion but they are not very long and are actually very helpful for reviewing/understanding the information presented in class. The one thing I really wish I had done is review the slides before I came into lecture because the material is so dense that a lot of the info can go right over your head the first time you hear it. Overall I think this class is very doable with the right amount of effort/time put in and the professor is probably one of the nicest and most approachable professors I have met at UCLA, not to mention she provides great slides!

Okay, let’s set this straight. Dragojlovic is the nicest, most soft-spoken, amicable professor I’ve ever had here, and I’m not sure why she has such bad reviews. Here’s the breakdown of her class.

-Exams: 2 midterms, 1 final
Her exams were very fair and were based directly on her lecture slides. LS 3 is a pure memorization class and is only hard because of the little tiny details. Before the exams, she’d post a detailed PPT of what we needed to know. And if you needed any clarifications, she answered your email within the hour, something most profs seem to be incapable of doing. She often gave us free points on the exam (for ex: choose answer A for this question!). The averages for each exam were surprisingly high, like between 75-85%, but she still ended up adding 2 BONUS points to each of our scores for BOTH midterms. The questions were relatively straightforward and most of them just asked about the functions of certain processes/machinery. Mainly consisted of multiple choice section and then 4-9 short answer questions/true or false/fill-in-the-blanks. For the 93 question final, she gave us the answers to 3 questions and even emailed us 5 of the harder questions to us days before the final, so that we could prepare answers for them.

-Homework: 10 worksheets, 6 points each
These are free points basically. Each week you get a 12-13 question free response worksheet and she grades like 2 questions for accuracy and then you get the remaining points for completion. In the end, if anyone got a worksheet score lower than a 4/6, she just automatically rounded it up to a 5 out of the kindness of her heart. HINT: if you just go to her office hours, she’ll pretty much give you all the answers if you just ask.

-Textbook:
She said it herself that it’s not even necessary. It’s good for extra info though. Just use her slides and you’ll be fine!

-Participation: via clicker and discussion
She has clicker questions for each lecture. You’re allowed to miss 3 lectures without penalty. And then you get points when you attend discussion as well. Just go to class for those easy points~

-Lecture
She has a very soothing voice that doesn’t really help during an 8am lecture. Luckily, she has the audio posted to CCLE within a few hours after class. Her slides are very organized and it helps to print them out and just write on them since there’s a lot of diagrams and photos.

-Discussion
Tbh this was the only part about this class I didn’t like. This is where we turned in our worksheets and received the typed-up answer sheet to it. TA Miguel-Angel pretty much just went over the worksheet answers the entire time when we could just look at them on our own time. Additionally, he was always really frazzled and disorganized. He was the one who graded the free response parts of the exams and it usually took him approx 2 weeks.

-Extra credit
Since the class was out of like 550 points total, she threw out a lot bonus points whenever she could. Those probably are saving my soul rn. We even got some points for filling out class evals. She also said she will curve the class if needed.

Overall, this was a really great course and I enjoyed talking with Dragojlovic. I’ve never had a professor care so deeply about us before. She’s just very accessible and very very fair. I would definitely recommend her for LS 3.

I absolutely love her. She goes above and beyond for her students and tries to be as lenient as possible. After taking Fluitt's LS3 class, I can say that she is definitely the better choice. The worksheets are hard, but it's just busy work and you get full credit for it anyway. Her tests are extremely fair, they are based on memorization of lecture slides, unlike Fluitt who tests us on applying techniques and lecture material. LS3 is hard no matter what, but Dragojlovic goes out of her way to make it as easy as possible and help us with free points. Don't think twice, take her!!

I beg to differ from the two other reviews and I am NOT someone that received a 99% or 100% on her exams (I didn't do so great on her exams either, but that's simply my fault for not managing my time properly with studying for this course versus my other courses ), otherwise, if I had studied properly and time managed my time better with all my other classes, I would've done better on her exams. I just think the last review did not give her a fair review and for that reason I'm writing my review (and I never write reviews)

After having taken the other LS 3 professor, I would choose Dragojlovic for many reasons. Yeah the worksheets are time consuming, but she mentioned it herself to not depend on the worksheets as a tool to study for the exam, it's just a way for us to not slack off with studying the material (since it is a pretty heavy topic and not the best decision to leave it to the last minute) and honestly, having cushion points doesn't hurt us in anyway. Just consider it as HW, like all the other classes. Second, the book was made optional to purchase, I think her lecture slides and re-listening to her lectures are more than enough to be able to understand the concepts, she makes herself very available to ask questions, so I would definitely take advantage of that. The topic itself just requires a lot more individual studying than just going to lecture.

Also, the midterm averages were not in the 60s and 70s, the first midterm had an average of about 80% and the second midterm had an average of 75% (which makes sense, the topic just requires you to know a lot of detail). The second midterm was considered harder, as she stated herself, but one or two people were able to get perfect scores, so that makes it obvious that her exams are COMPLETELY doable.

What I really appreciated about Dragojlovic was that the lecture before an exam, she would spend a good portion of lecture going over SPECIFIC topics that are and aren't covered for the exam. I thought that made my studying somewhat more focused cause I knew what to focus on and what not to focus on.

And personally, I would prefer to have exams that are completely based on lectures, cause then I know it's fair and what I need to know are on the lecture slides. To be honest, I thought she was way too nice with everything that she provided for us, giving extra points on exams, even when the averages were pretty high. I mean, I didn't do well on the exams, but I just thought she deserved a fair review. LS 3 is just hard in general because of how detailed everything is.

Hardest Class at UCLA- coming from an undergrad with a 4.0 Science GPA.
