very helpful teacher with many office hours before tests, but not very helpful to those who speak the language. don't go to office hours or ask her questions if you know how to speak even a bit of chinese

i thought her reading comprehension of her tests were a bit unfair b/c you can argue the T/F both ways, but you will always lose, so no point arguing.

When I had her first quarter i didn't like her much because had her class so tightly structured. During chinese 2 began to LOATHE chinese because we had quizzes ALL THE TIMe (twice a week). Luckily, i realized that she cared very much for her student's opinions. She asked for opinions very often. The fantastic thing though, is I've actually seen changes made throughout the quarter and into Chinese 3 (which i am taking now).
Chinese is tough. Everyone has to work their butts off to keep up so I wouldn't recommend taking Fu's class if you're not going to work hard (in fact, i wouldn't recommend taking chinese at all if you dont want to work really hard). Fu takes attendence at every lecture and her TA's take role. That means going to class every day! Her lectures are super structured and she actually calls on people, so know your stuff!
