This is for course 167D; it was not listed as an option. I have never taken the time to write an evaluation of a professor, given that I am easily pleased and disinclined to write negative reviews. Professor GOlden was not a particularly bad lecturer, nor were her homework or reading assignments unreasonable. I received nearly 100% on the 4 homework assignments and 97% on the midterm. Homework is worth 40% of the total grade and the midterm 20%. Participation accounts for 10% and the final 30%. I attended all the lectures and was present for both quizzes, although I scored poorly on the second one, but so did the rest of the class. And yet I received a B!!! FML! BY a conservative calculation, assuming I only received 5% of the participation points (although discussion and lecture attendance account for some of the grade)and that there was no curve, I would have had to have gotten a D on the final in order to get a B in the class. And by no means am I the only one to receive a grade lower than expected. The day grades came out 3 other people texted me complaining about their grade. All had A's going into the final, and ended up with a B-. The course was not particularly difficult, but the grading is whack! I got an A+ in my three other classes, and one of the upper division courses I was taking was much harder than this class.

Winter 2016 - Professor Golden really cares about her students' learning. The skills learned from Stata and applying some statistics, and writing statistical analysis in reports is very valuable. She is very clear and gives substantive advice on how to become an excellent scholar.
