This class was hilarious, exciting, and fascinating, all thanks to Professor Morris, who is my favorite professor at UCLA to this day. If you want to gain practical knowledge about a world that is not so openly talked about, take this class. If you want an easy A, take this class. I wasn't so interested in LGBT culture before, but this opened up a whole new world for me. Professor Morris is an incredible lecturer. Never a dull moment in this class. NEVER. I've forgotten my TA's name, but honestly I went to the discussion 2/10 times and never had it held against me; she didn't take attendance. There is virtually no homework or readings- just two 2 page essays, the midterm and the final. I generally hate going to class, but I was excited to go to lecture, and I thoroughly enjoyed writing the essays and taking the final and midterm. Take this class!

I came into this class with a lot of interest in the subject, and I really enjoyed it. Almost all of the material from this class was from lecture. The lectures are engaging and Morris makes the material funny and relevant. He talks really fast (sometimes brushing over names/dates that he will expect you to know later) and tends to go on tangents, which can make it hard to discern what you'll need to know. The fact that there are not many reading materials means it's important to go to all the lectures and take really good notes. That said, he does a pretty good job of letting you know what you'll need to study for the midterm and final.

Be prepared to write three papers and put in work for the midterm/cumulative final, both of which have in-class essays. We never got our midterms or writing assignments back or were told our grades for either.

Morris is funny at times. Sometimes he can be a little boring. If you are not interested in music you would not like this class.

It is easy and the lectures are ok. The test is more memorization and essay than anything.
