Quarter: Spring 2019
Grade: N/A
July 8, 2019

Professor Molly is hard-working and always eager to help students. She really wants students to learn how to conduct research through this course. While the workload is on the heavy side (weekly readings, 5 homework assignments, 5-part research project, a midterm, and NO final), they all pertain to practicing and learning how to use different research methods in sociology. Professor Molly gives you clear directions for each assignment and walks you through your research project process step by step, so while the workload may seem overwhelming, it is doable as long as you follow the directions and put in the effort. And again, she is always willing and available if you need any help. Her lectures can be a little overwhelming because she talks a lot and fast, but they are based on the readings. Since she takes the course seriously, you should too! I assure you that by doing so, you will take away a valuable skill at the end of this course. She provides a study guide for the midterm, along with several extra credit opportunities.

Quarter: Spring 2019
Grade: A+

I heard horrible things about this class and was scared to take it, but Professor Molly Jacobs made my experience with this class a breeze and really enjoyable. There was a midterm with a study guide and no final, only a research paper due at the end. There were 5 homework assignments throughout the quarter which weren't time-consuming or difficult at all. The 10-page research paper was worked on throughout the quarter with most of the homework assignment correlating with the paper making it all come together at the end nicely. Professor Jacobs was very helpful in office hours and readily available. There was also a good amount of extra credit offered. If you have a chance to take this class with this professor, do it!

Quarter: Winter 2018
Grade: A-
March 30, 2019

Professor Jacobs is one of the best Sociology professors at UCLA. For this class we had small one page assignments scattered throughout the quarter, making them completely manageable. The midterm was a bit challenging, however, as long as you attended lecture and did the study guide she hands out you will be fine. I got a C+ on the midterm and ended up with an A-. The final paper is based on qualitative research and while it can be challenging I recommend meeting with her during office hours.
