Really enjoyed Professor McClendon's course. Very informative and nice. She knowns what she's talking about. I would say, though, I wish her lecture slides were a bit more organized and she gave an outline at the beginning of the lecture to make it easier to follow. Other than that, an overall good class I highly recommend taking.
4/5 across the board. Great personality, cool and engaging lectures, but most of my colleagues and I got Bs on essays, exams, and rough drafts. TA IS HORRIBLE. Couldn't spell Bridesmaid for the life of her, surprised she got into college period.
Thought I’d at least get an A- but oh well.
I would take again in the future!
McClendon's class was interesting, her lectures were funny and easy to sit through. She can be a little intimidating but she means well. The workload was heavy, but worth it in the end. Be prepared to read some old english because at least one of the essays/exams will rely on this type of source. Also, do not underestimate the midterm being mix and match answers. I got a C on this, but thank god for the other assignments, they helped weigh out my grade. This test is tricky, lots of terms and names you gotta know, and so many of them seem similar. Other then that test, I would say the other assignments are manageable, not easy, but worth it, I would take her again.
If you are at all interest in the tudors you must take this class! Her lectures were good and the reading she assigned was really fun. There were two "quizes" that were pretty much midterms a book review and the final. The first quiz was mix n match. Don't let that fool you into thinking it's easy, you have to do the reading to do well! The second quiz was an essay, that along with the book review and final were not too bad. As long as you have a strong argument that you can support with evidence.
If you love history, tudors take her! Also not a hard class to pass if you need an upper elective.

Prof. McClendon is a great professor. She is very concerned and very approachable. I highly suggest taking her for anything where professor involvement and student/professor interaction is important. You will have to work to get an A, but nothing she asks is unreasonable. If you like English history (Tudor period/ Reformation England) then defiantly take her.
McClendon was pretty good, she really outlined her main points so you could tell what was important and what wasn't. However, when she graded papers, it seemed that she was looking at it like an English professor (i.e. correcting your comma usage, etc.) rather than a History professor (judging your content, argument, use of sources, etc.) STILL, it was good, not really hard or anything. 2 papers an a final. Easy B+, but I think you really have to try to get that A.
