Quarter: Winter 2026
Grade: A

I took the Criminal Legal System course with Professor Sugie for winter 2026, and I absolutely loved this class. She's the type of professor who actually cares about her students and is very educated and passionate about the class she teaches. I definitely recommend taking the criminal legal system with her. There's no midterm, final, or quizzes. However, each week, there are some readings that are mandatory and graded. The readings are not long, definitely doable. There is a 2-hour presentation that you would have to lead with your group. Again, it's very doable and not that hard. It's more of a lead discussion, where you talk about that week's readings and lead the seminar with the students and ask questions. You only do that once, and there's also a research paper that you will be working on the whole quarter. You will be connected to a certain organization and will work with them, which also gives you an opportunity to possibly get an internship at the organization. As part of the final, you will be presenting a 5 min presentation about your research to the class. This class also meets once a week. Very doable. By far my favorite class.
