Professor Lamoreaux is a REALLY sweet and caring lady, I must admit. I agree w/ the last posting, in that her class was NOT EASY at all. I never had to READ and study so much for an economics class (bear in mind that one doesn't really read in econ. classes, right?!?) Keep up w/ the readings regularly, so that you won't fall behind! And analyze her lecture notes carefully! All the test answers are in her little charts/graphs. What I would suggest is getting a small study group together and help each other study. That really helped me and some of my classmates. Each person has his/her inputs/opinions on interpreting each analysis. Her tests (3) are SOO LONG!!! You seriously will be writing the ENTIRE TIME. It's a doable class, though. I flunked my 1st test, did OK on the 2nd test, and aced the final, and I got a B in her class. She drops the lowest test grade, so it's a good idea to "flunk" the 1st test purposely so that you could improve later on, instead of acing your 1st test, then pressure's definitely on to keep acing 2nd and 3rd tests. Get my point? Well, that strategy definitely worked for me, but hell, I did have to study really really hard for the final. Good luck! I'm sure you all will enjoy Professor Lamoreaux, if not her class. She's worth a shot! Serious!!

This class is NOT easy by any means, and it is NO FUN. The topics seem interesting at the beginning of class, but she provides entirely too much information for you to learn in a quarter. Her lecture slides are about 20 pgs long for 1 hour, and she talks ridiculously fast. She may seem all nice and sweet, but her tests definitely show otherwise. Her grading system is very strict, the tests are impossible to complete in 1 hour, and as a result, the bulk of the class lands in >50% range. I studied a lot for this class, never missed a lecture, reviewed every piece of literature and graph, and I ended up with a B. AVOID HER!

Professor Lamoreaux is one professor who truly cares about the learning of her students. Although her class was not "easy" I learned so much from the way she taught. She is very approachable and knew about half of the names in my class. She is like no other Economics professor at UCLA. Her grading is very fair and she loves her office to be full of students who have questions.
