Professor Kumar is amazing! She was pregnant throughout the time she taught the class this fall yet she never canceled, was always on time (we had 8ams) and always cheery, funny and enthusiastic even at 8am!

One of the few Management professors truly dedicated and passionate about what she teaches. She also relates it to her past jobs in banking and shows how the topics are relevant in the real world.

Her tests are not the easiest: MCQ and long questions but if you do all the homework, go through the slides and understand the topics, they are fair and doable!

She also allows you to bring the course reader during the tests. So it's open book!

Wouldn't take this class with any other professor!

Perhaps, she is the best professor in Anderson school. She really cares about her students and she would never ignore any questions asked. I really liked the way she conveys information and how she organizes the learning materials. Although her tests aren't easy ones, it's still doable if you understand the concepts and do all the homework.

I do not recommend this Professor as she only cares about her main job / her own business or so. She only does office hours at 7 am which is impossible for commuters. Her lectures, quizzes, and homework do not relate to her exam either. I eventually dropped the class since GPA is essential for me, whereas this class should be more comfortable with other Prof., says Micheal.

Professor Kumar is amazing! I really enjoyed her class and learned more practical knowledge in this class than almost any other I've taken at UCLA. As far as the difficulty of the course there is a fair amount of reading but it's actually interesting reading so I'd say it's no big deal. The first midterm was pretty tough although it didn't feel hard while taking it because the MC's are worded tricky. Make sure you buy the loose-leaf textbook because I got 100% on the second midterm and would say literally 80% of the questions were straight out of the textbook. She did not allow open computers during the test, only paper notes and books so having the physical textbook is definitely worth it. The lectures are the best part of the class, Neha brought in a number of really interesting/insightful guest speakers and Professor Kumar's lectures themselves are awesome. She lectured a lot about her personal experiences both on the investing and entrepreneurial side of deals and taught skillsets for how to evaluate the basic financial sheets of a business (income statement, cash-flow statement, balance sheet). She was also great at expressing how different players might view a given venture deal and how those players might negotiate to get themselves better situations. Overall, one of my favorite classes I've taken at UCLA.

Professor Kumar is amazing! She somehow makes 8am lectures bearable, and is engaging to keep you awake. This is one of the only classes I've taken at UCLA that feels completely applicable in my life no matter what I do. She explains things very clearly and the textbook goes hand in hand with her teaching. I would definitely recommend this class for anybody, because having basic accounting information is so useful in your personal life just to be able to read different financial statements, and then especially those who want to pursue a career in business. Hoping to take another course with her in the future. She a real, successful person who wants to give back to students, which makes her class much more engaging as she actually wants to be there.

Professor Kumar is one of the best professors I've had at UCLA. This class is extremely practical and opens a window into the world of entrepreneurship and venture capital. Highly recommend for students with any academic background. The guest speakers that came were also so amazing, there were lawyers, venture capitalists, startup accelerators, and people in private equity. Professor Kumar's office hours were also amazing too just to learn from a successful person in general, she is always more than happy to offer advice or share her experiences.

Best class I took at UCLA no doubt. Professor Kumar is the GOAT.
She follows the main guidelines of the class but if she notices that a subject is particularly interesting to the class she will dive into it way more.
Super engaging, and even more fair. Since our 8 am class was really engaged and helpful in the studying process, she changed our final to a case assignment.
Professor Kunar also brings a lot of speakers to the class so the material studied is actually applicable and interesting.

As a STEM student, this class was not my usual discipline. Finance and accounting was challenging for me, but I am pursuing the entrepreneurship minor and this class was absolutely necessary. Professor Kumar taught the class through an entrepreneurial lens. What better way to learn about funding an entrepreneurial venture than to learn from Professor Kumar who works in a venture capital firm and is an angel investor herself. She really understands how money works in the startup space.

Beyond her knowledge, she is incredible with the students. She engaged with us so well that attendance to an 8am class was always impeccable. She was brilliant in getting students to feel comfortable enough to engage freely in discussion. She is so easy to talk to, and several of us would be at her office hours 7am before class. Many of us received opportunities to connect with the guest speakers she brought in. Every student that I spoke with in the class said that she was the best professor they had, and I can agree. She genuinely cares and wants you to succeed both in the classroom and in life outside of the classroom.

Her exams were challenging for me, but be reminded that this was the first class I ever took in financing and accounting. Although I got a C-, I learned so much about how to make my entrepreneurial dreams come to life through Kumar. You would not regret taking this class.

i liked that the professor puts in effort in relating some of the accounting concepts to real life scenarios but she really does not prioritize how to spend her lecture times effectively. she frequently goes on a tangent and then tests you on materials in a fashion that was not covered well in class. midterm and final practice review/practice questions are literally worthless, does nothing to help to prepare for actual exams. inaccurate midterm grades with no confirmation of having been corrected and no posting of your final exam grades which does not tell you how you actually did on the final nor how the class did overall. most emails are ignored as she prioritizes her business over teaching the course it seems. i would not recommend if GPA is important to you...

Professor Kumar is the best prof. in the MGMT department and this class is the best class in the Entrepreneurship minor. She brings in industry leaders as guest speakers and has amazing insight into venture capital and entrepreneurial finance due to her experience as fund manager for a VC fund. Her assigned book, Venture Deals, is an industry standard. Anyone interested in founding a company or entering VC/PE should take this class. I took this class with no background in finance/accounting and found the workload completely manageable. After taking this class I went from zero knowledge in the field to having the vocabulary and understanding to land a finance internship.
