Do not take this class! Can you imagine a graduate course professor will give any students grades lower than B-? This is the first professor I've seen in the graduate department that will ever give students a C. Me and my teammates went to every single lecture, and we completed all assignments, project, and the exam, and ended up getting C's. Funny though, he even claimed that he gave us 2% extra credit. What's the point of that? He didn't value student's efforts at all.
This class was very lecture heavy but the homework assignments and midterm reflected the materials fairly. The midterm was extremely long for the amount of time we were given. The homework assignments were always graded fairly. Instead of a final exam, there is a final group project that is pretty open ended. It was sometimes hard to get an email response from the Professor or the TA. Following along the lectures is so important since there is so much material that is covered every week.
This course covers a lot of aspects of wireless and mobile system design. Professor Abari is very knowledgeable in this area and can explain these notions clearly. However, if you haven't taken any signal processing (which is more important) or computer networking courses, some of the lectures might be hard for you. We have 3 homework, 1 midterm and the final project. The midterm is not very tough if you understand the materials well. The homework and final project can be done in group. And in Fall 2023, you can also choose to find a topic in this area that interests you and do a survey instead of doing a project. If you do so, the overall workload for this course is not too high.
