Professor Greene is kind of a ticking time bomb. She sometimes explodes when you ask her a simple problem. Other times, she appears to be a sweet old woman.
Anyways, her lectures were kind of a waste of time. I feel like I would have done better if I taught myself Calculus by reading Neuhauser and an AP prep book. That Schaum's book that she swore we'd love more than our own mothers...? She must think that we really hate our mothers or something, because Schaum's was a beast to be reckoned with.
I went to every single lecture. I remember a good portion of them consisting of her doing a simple problem over and over and over again. Then you get to her homework, and it's a hundred times harder than what she went over in lecture. Honestly, the only way to survive in this class is to constantly go to office hours and ask her for help, but the problem with that is, is if you ask a "stupid question", you'll have unleashed the beast in her.
I remember her sending out a strongly worded email about how we should stop asking for help on a certain problem, and we had to resort to TA help (not all that helpful when your TA is terrible).
Ms. Greene is a nice person, but she can also be mean. People are right. She seems lineant at first then she gets mad when you take things easy. By the middle of the quarter she'll say you have to keep working hard and read your book. When you weren't used to that. The midterms, one is pretty simple, the second is hell and back. It has nothing to do with the practice exams. The second one everyone practically fails leaving your final to become 60%of your final grade. She is a good teacher, but like every other teacher she has her ups and downs.
I love Professor Greene. She's really upbeat during lectures and she makes the concepts really understandable. The midterms and final were very fair and easy. She also gives very helpful reviews beforehand. There are lots of homework assigned, but they help out a lot for the exams.
PROFESSOR GREENE IS THE BEST MATH 1 TEACHER EVERRRRRRRR. She is caring, and holds lots of office hours to help students with problems they do not get. Her quiz were online which made it easier because it was open book and you can work with a friend! Also you get as many tries as you like. :D she is the best!! Her midterms and final had no surprises at all! for the final, she even gave us 2 sheets of cheat sheets! it doesn't get better than that!!
Professor Greene is very caring and understanding with her students. She is very compassionate about the subject she teaches, which makes it even better to be in her lecture. I personally had Math 1 at 8am and did not miss a single lecture because she is entertaining and so genuine. She will help you with whatever you may need! TAKE HER!
I'm taking this class for my Sociology major, and I HATED math before I took this class. The material isn't too complicated, but for someone who really struggled in all math in high school, she is a GREAT teacher. I actually like math now and I love her class. She's SO easy to approach and she's really helpful in office hours. Also, she's very open to changing your grade if you get points off on homework and things like that. Definitely would take math from her again!
You do not have to think twice about taking courses with this professor. Mrs. Greene is one of the nicest math teachers I have ever had. Coming to UCLA, I expected all professors to be arrogant and unwilling to devote attention to one specific student. However, Professor Greene proved me wrong. She was always willing to help. She even extended her office hours many times, specially prior to a test because she was willing to help each student individually. Her lectures are very easy to understand. Her tests are not super hard with questions that you would never expect on there. She hands out practice problems before each test and if you do them well, you will practically get an A on the exam, given you've done all the hw as well. I would definitely recommend Professor Greene.
Math 1 is an overall easy course, and professor Greene makes it even easier. Her exams are straight forward and not hard at all. just study, and get to know her and you will get a good grade. Not just that, but incase you're not doing so well, her curve is very generous. don't think twice about taking her, she's awesome.
