She gets annoying with emails.
I thought this class would be a joke so I thought I could do it in a breeze. NO use your time wisely while taking your midterms you have like 40 min. If you do this you should be fine....

Final was fair got a 90/100

This helped a lot so I could get my B+....

I had Professor Greene for Math 1.

I honestly found her lectures to be pretty helpful in explaining the key concepts of the chapters, yet she explains it in a way so you still have to read the chapter and do the example problems to take the tests and do the homework (which in my opinion, is a good thing). However, from a little more than halfway into the course, she started being less and less organized and by the time we hit trig, she was so dispersed we didn't really learn anything about it. So, yeah, now I'm scared for calculus.I'm not sure how good she is at teaching this class during other quarters, but apparently this time she had some personal family shit going on so she was distracted.

The grading structure was as follows:
Written HW - 10%
Online HW - 10%
Midterm 1 - 20% (pretty easy)
Midterm 2 - 20% (study a LOT for this one, it'll hit you like a brick)
Final - 40%

Some random info :
She is a different person on the computer. She sends aggressive and threatening emails that made me pretty intimidated to tell her about a mistake in my grade (which she happily fixed, by the way).

Do the freaking homework. It's not hard at all, so it's a waste of points not to get it done.

Ask for help when you need it. Don't ask Greene over email though. (Personally, I didn't need any, but I think my TA was pretty helpful to the people that did)

So, in all, I'd give Greene a 6/10 for overall quality. No bitterness, I mean, I got an A in the class (score). Maybe she won't have as much personal b.s. going on when you take it.

Do not take Ben Bellis as a TA!!!! He is terrible! If you got stuck with him find a TA who is good and go to their section.

Professor Greene is very strange, and she sends out a ton of emails that don't really mean anything. Shes a decent teacher, but she really just goes over what the book says. So you can honestly either go to lecture and never read or read and only go to lecture when hw is due. The class is not terribly hard. There is online homework which is easy to get 100% on and then written hw which again is pretty easy if you either go to class or read the book. The first midterm is very fair, I got a B on it by just doing the assigned hw. Prepare yourself now because you will most likely fail the second midterm. The final was pretty fair.

Okay honest review here.

Prof Greene is an odd one. In her emails she'll send you before the course starts she's gonna come off as super rude/impatient/mean/etc. And throughout the whole quarter her emails are always like that. She emails CONSTANTLY, at least once a day or just about, and a lot of the time it's to tell people to stop coming to her office hours with silly questions or to stop emailing her questions.

But in class she is SO sweet, like whoa. She gives off a really grandmotherly feel. It's her way of lulling you into a false sense of security before her inner beast is unleashed.

Midterm 1 was easy. It's precalc, anyone with half a brain is gonna breeze through the first part of the class. By the time you get to midterm two, things get a bit harder. But midterm two is TOUGH, and I mean it. For Fall 2012, the class average on midterm II was 52%.

Breakdown: Online hw, hand in hw, two midterms, and a final. The online homework is easy points so definitely make sure to score 99 or 100% if possible. You can keep guessing answers until you get it right.

The hand in hw is kinda a bummer. Due every Friday lecture, it's graded on correctness. Lowest score is dropped. Midterm one, like I said, is easy don't sweat it. Midterm 2, just review everything again and again. I just kept redoing all the example problems from the book (because she's in love with the book) and it helps because most of the questions follow those examples.

The final is a lot like midterm 2. Just do the example problems and make sure you have things memorized solid, like identities and stuff.

Overall, not a terrible class, not wonderful. Not gonna lie, I skipped all her lectures after week one except those on Friday, and only because hw was due then. If math isn't your strong point, I do recommend taking her course because at the very least she goes slow enough to make it pretty easy to follow her lectures. Just make sure you study harder problems on your own.

There is only one major flaw with this professor and that's how extremely difficult she makes the second midterm. I've taken Math 1 and Math 3A and i'm speaking from experience. The average in Math 1 for second midterm was 30-40% meaning that almost everyone failed. The same applied for Math 3A. Don't get me wrong she is very caring and have several tutoring sessions. She is also really nice, but I just want to emphasize how she throws curve balls for the second midterm. It usually goes like this

Midterm 1-easy
Midterm 2- no hours of studying can get you an A or B
Final- Medium difficulty (fair test)

Professor Paige Greene is one of the best professors at UCLA. She is thorough with all her explanations and truly cares that her students understand the concepts she's covering. She gives an incredible foundation in calculus that has helped me tremendously in MATH31A. Additionally, she makes herself available in unusually long office hours and is open to answer any level question you may have. She completely prepares you for her exams with practice quizes and "warm up" exercises at the beginning of many of her lectures. I wish she had foundational classes in many other topics. I'm very grateful for her instruction and manner. She's was perfect.

Ms. Greene is a nice person, but she can also be mean. People are right. She seems lineant at first then she gets mad when you take things easy. By the middle of the quarter she'll say you have to keep working hard and read your book. When you weren't used to that. The midterms, one is pretty simple, the second is hell and back. It has nothing to do with the practice exams. The second one everyone practically fails leaving your final to become 60%of your final grade. She is a good teacher, but like every other teacher she has her ups and downs.
