Professor hobbs is definately a very interesting professor. At first she seems weird but after you get used to her sarcastic style you will realize she is very knowledgeable and humorous. She has been a lawyer in this field for a long time and knows what she's talking about. It's really interesting to hear her lecture on this important law topic, and then hear her opinion from her past experiences. She has definately inclined me to look at law school after I graduate.
That being sad, I found her tests to be difficult. I felt like I knew all the information, but I just did not write my analysis the way the TA's wanted me to, and thus lost points. The grading is definately super subjective, and I didn't get my tests back till 9th or 10th week, by which time it was too late to realize where I made my mistakes. Some of the TA's didn't even mark my test as to why I received points off. Basically you have to know a lot of stuff for the test, but that is the easy part... the hard part is writing a good analysis that covers everything and agrees with the ta's point of view. I think this is a great class, but don't expect a good grade no matter how well you know the material going into the tests.
I took this class during the summer and it was very easy for me. Of course, I guess it helps that my family is full of lawyers. For this class, you really have to think like a lawyer. You not only have to be able to recall the facts, but you also have to be able to analyze the situation and be persuasive in your argument. I got an A and it wasn't too hard. Just do the reading and go to class and it shouldn't be too hard. The midterm was 2 hypotheticals and 2 short answers and the final was the same.
