Professor Munro is the nicest woman ever. She brought us Diddy Riese cookies for the final! She is super concerned about students and also very friendly. She does however have what I call "granny sass," but it's all in good humor.

I'm not a Ling major, heck I am not even a humanities major, and this class was pretty straightforward. Just read your course reader before each quiz (and each week you only need to read about 10ish pages, and the font is pretty big too) and take notes. The quizzes are open *handwritten* notes, so they aren't too hard if you study. And the professor goes over all the concepts in class pretty clearly already. Even if you don't do well, you have a chance to take a makeup quiz for every quiz, so there's no reason you can't ace them. On top of that, you get one final amnesty quiz to replace any quiz you want!

The homework assignments though were time-consuming, so starts those early! And go to the TA or professor if you have any questions, they are super accommodating in helping you with the hw.

The final was pretty hard. Maybe it's because I skipped a few lectures, but I did not really know how to do one of the questions because the professor never really went over the concept. However, if you did well in the quizzes and homework, then the final doesn't really change your grade much unless you do exceptionally bad.

Professor Munro:
She is a dedicated professor that cares about student learning. She is a bit arrogant; however, she is nationally recognized for her contributions to Linguistics. She is a great person.

The material:
I could not stand this class. It was such a pain and turned out to be my hardest class (I still had a 94%). I would recommend this class to Linguistics majors; however, any non-Linguistics major should refrain from this course. It was really difficult without any Linguistics background. I worked my ass off to understand the concepts.

Overall: Professor Munro is an awesome individual. The past reviews are correct about her character. The class itself is not that great if you are not a Linguistics major.

Professor Munro is one of the best professors in the universe. She is very inspiring and extremely knowledgeable. Although the class is relatively easy, you won't be lazy because her passion will motivate you to give your best.
