Took this class as an elective thinking it would be easy.

It was except for the fact that he changed his curve to give 30% C's that quarter, previously it was 40% A's, 50% B's, 10% C's

Even though I showed improvement from midterm to final, he didn't do jack about it.

He has more of a high personality of oh this course is about what you learn, and rarely discusses the issue about grades

If the material comes so easily people should be getting high A's and B's especially in a class like this

This class wasn't all that great and chose this course out of all the ones I could've chosen, Huge Big Humongous Mistake that was, buy his books, listen to what he says word for word and you'll get an A,

O unless he decides to change the curve like he did during that quarter

Epic class, epic professor. Professor Ambramson is very interesting and fun to listen to. I looked forward to going to class every day because he's a very engaging speaker & presented on some very fascinating topics. The class is 50% midterm/50% final and it's totally do-able--just go to class every day. Because of this format, this class requires very little time (except the day before the midterm & the final)--which is definitely a plus. I gained a lot from this class, found all of it very interesting, & thought Ambramson was a very straightforward, cool professor.

this class was good for a few weeks. then it just got awful later on. Most of the weeks you just listen to him ramble about his own theories, and then you take exams which aren't the easiest also. I would recommend looking into other classes

He's an okay professor, but I really don't like going to class, because it feels like an eternity and his multiple choice exams are like 100% his opinion. Its not really something where you can read a textbook and expect to get a good grade in like a Chem class or physics where I never go to class.

This class was a mix of interesting and boring depending on the day. We watched a few movies which weren't that bad, but Abramson's lectures were a little tedious to listen to sometimes. The class is pretty easy as long as you read the books, so I recommend taking it for a psych elective. The entire class depends on his midterm and final (multiple choice, 75 questions), which despite what he says are TRICKY. You have to read very carefully, take excellent notes, and listen to the podcasts if you have time. A lot of his questions involve the "Both A&B", "All of the above" type answer choices as well as some "According to Dr. Abramson..." which throw you off. Overall, if you review the material well, you will do fine.

The material for the human sexuality class is profound, especially "With Pleasure". I think many will take this class and will see it as a fun class, and it is, but some of the research and information Dr. Abramson presents is pretty deep and thought out. Unless you question the norms of your "human sexuality life" and not just in thought-but in practice as well, you will understand what I am talking about when I say his material is thought out and deep. To those below, who complained about how if one is a critical thinker they will be frustrated at times, they probably don't know what critical thinking means. I can bet they probably come from conservative Christian background who don't understand that there is a life outside of the "traditional" human sexuality.

Like others have stated, this class is based on two multiple choice exams-midterm/final. I'm personally not a huge fan of multiple choice exams, because I think they tend to emphasize memorization instead of actually learning, so take my opinion with a grain of salt. I think someone the first day of class had asked if the exams were tricky, based on a previous review or comment had mentioned. Dr. Abramson said no. He kind of lied. They are tricky only in the sense that you probably have to memorize details of his lectures because those are were the tricky questions come from. In exams, there will be questions asked like "in regards to __________,dr abramason said......" The choices are all excellent or reasonable logical choices, but unless you know or memorized his lectures, guessing won't help.

This class was hard only becasue the two exams were one of the trickiest exams I've taken in a long time. I thought I did really well on the first exam and then I saw that the I didn't do so well. It was either some kind of mistake or it was so tricky I didn't even notice. The lectures weren't that great, but it was still interesting. It was a relaxed class and kind of entertaining especially with some of the videos he shows in class. Not bad class but make sure you memorize his lectures word for word cause he asks questions even about a specific example he uses in class to explain something. Books are somewhat interesting. But yea, if your gonna take this class make sure you take your time on teh multiple choice exams which each are 50% each and read it well and study hard. Not an easy class, just work hard ohowever and try your best. I wouldn't take it again cause lectures weren't very entertaining but it was kind of interesting.

The lectures may be dry at times but they are important to attend since the material is on the midterms. Lecture notes do help, especially if you are the type that dose off in class or don't attend at all. The readings and videos are actually interesting. Be sure to pay close attention to everything because his exams are very picky.
