Fall 2025 - Your grade is comprised of the following components: Attendance: 15% (is mandatory, taken at the end of every lecture with students being entitled to one unexcused absence) Weekly discussion posts: 10% (7/10 must be done but extra credit given if you do more than 7) Group exercises: 30% (10% per exercise) Peer review of exercises: 5% 1st midterm: 20% 2nd midterm: 20% While the lecture material can be pretty dry, it's pretty easy to earn an A in the class. Attendance is mandatory and lectures aren't recorded, which can be annoying. Discussion posts are essentially graded on completion (plus there's extra credit). The group exercises aren't horrible, you are assigned to a group of 3 students (2 others plus yourself) and it's not hard to earn an A- or so on them. The peer review is just to make sure people who didn't do any work lose points which is a bit unnecessary. The midterms aren't super hard; they are very application-based, so as long as you know how to apply the lecture material, you're fine. You can also bring 3 double-sided pages of notes with you to the two midterms. I basically just copied down all the lectures/important readings so that helped big time. The exams aren't cumulative by the way. Overall, this class isn't too hard, just fairly boring at times.
