I don't know who wrote those positive and nice comments about Mr. Peter Baldwin, but they are far from reality. The course is composed of a midterm exam and final exam. The class met once a week for three hours and in class, Baldwin mostly lectured from his memorized notes. (Yes, memorized, he sounds like a genious, but once you get a hold of his notes, he even has it written when he needs to pause when tell a joke....pretty much he's like a machine...). The midterm does not sound too hard, only 3-4 pages. You might give your all to the paper like I did, work for hours researching and putting together an argumentative paper, but when you get your paper back, watch out cuz it WILL BE far lower than you expected. In fact, a big majority of my class did pretty bad. What's more ironic is the fact he assigns the midterm during 7th week, so it doesn't really give you much time to drop the class. After all that, all you can do is study day and night for the final to hope for a B in the class. The course sounds very interesting, but if you're hoping to learn about the Holocaust and WWII in this class, consider taking another class. He only dedicated some 30 minutes to the Holocaust and didn't really go into WWII or any of the siginicat wars. But one thing that he did a lot, is talking about the political parties of Weimar republic, the political system, constitutions, turning a history class into a political science course. I would never ever take a class with this man. Oh, and on top of that, he is rude!

I think Professor Baldwin is a great professor. Yes, it's a little overwhelming to have a 3 hour class on Mondays, but the movie makes it go by faster, and it doesn't seem too bad after a few weeks. The material is extremely interesting and he cracks jokes every now and then. If you bomb the midterm, don't worry. He told us that if we do better on the final, that will be your final grade and if you don't do as well on the final, then your midterm will give you a boost. Like the past reviews, he is very knowledgeable and easy to talk to.
