He is a really nice guy. Pretty witty and clearly in love with the material and enjoys helping students. The class consisted of two papers. The midterm was 5-6 pages and the final was 6-7 pages. There was a large choice of options for prompts and they were all pretty easy. He does expect you to attend class and incorporate what is discussed in class into the papers. While there are slides, he normally uses them as a jumping off point and talks about other things for a while before returning to the slides. Overall, a solid professor.
Class grade consists of 2 essays (5-6 page midterm and 6-7 page final). The professor did not record lectures but that's not a problem if you attended lectures live and did the readings. The professor is very helpful and provides plenty of opportunities for students to ask questions. Overall, would take a class with him again!
I took Pete Stacey for the past two quarters History 122, and History 130. Its two essays for the class, and if you pay attention and genuinely engage with the material you should be good. Professor was pretty cool as well hes just a little hard to get in touch with. Otherwise it was a great time.
Professor Stacey's class isn't a cakewalk, but it is definitely easy to get an A if you do the readings. He doesn't record the lectures or post the slides so it's important that you show up to class. With that being said, he keeps the class interesting and he keeps you on your toes. The midterm and final were both take home essays and he gives you different prompts to choose from. If you do the readings ahead of time, the essays are a breeze. He is always (I mean always) there to help you after class. If you have any questions whatsoever, Professor Stacey stays after class to answer them in the most detailed way possible. He is a fantastic Professor who really does care about you doing well. Do the readings, pay attention during class, ask questions after class if you have any, and you'll get the A you worked hard for.
