Chem 20B and 110A are challenging courses. I'm glad I took them with Professor Felker.

It is true that the material and lecture are very boring. However, do all the homework problems and you'll be ok.

He is a pretty good professor. Lectures are boring,but it isn't his fault..the material isn't very exciting. The midterms are open book with a page of notes and they are three questions. The questions are fairly challenging but they are fair. The averages for the midterms when i took the course were 44,34 and a 56 for the final. He says the mean is a b- in the class...not a c+ which is good i guess for most people. Do the homework because it is really beneficial. He will sometimes throw a homework problem or a problem from the book that is not assigned for homework on the midterm or final. At least 2 of the three tests will have a proof on it, if not all three. The proofs are kinda hard and aren't in the book really so yea.....He occasionally has difficulty answering some questions...he gets confused sometimes. but overall he knows what he is doing and is pretty good at explaining how to do problems when he knows how to do it. Going to his tutorial can also be beneficial because he will sometimes put a question on the midterm or final if he people ask him the same question over and over again. So any question he goes over in tutorial you should know how to do because it might show up on a test. good luck his class isn't as bad as everyone says it is though...

Hi Dr Felker is very knowledgeable about things like total differentials, standard partial molar enthlapy, real gases, and solution thermodynamics. However he should try and be more exciting in lecture. He is really a nice and friendly and caring person. However he should make chemistry into more of a game instead of just listing facts and doing problems. His tests are relatively easy for 110A. But I am sure for 20B he is much harder because he wants to prepare students for 110A. The GRE questions were harder than Dr. Felker's for chemistry.
