He is hilarious! His lectures are full of energy and excitement. He's weird, but in a funny kind of way. He brings in stuffed animals and other props to make sure the content is clear and understandable. His tests are very detailed, and you just have to be a good test taker to do well on those. I learned a lot in his class, and he's just tons of fun. Webnotes are available for us online, which is a very good thing because most of his test questions come from lecture notes.

The post-midterm material is really interesting and robinson helps to make it interesting since he is pretty funny. But the midterm was killer, I studied for countless hours; read the book, memorized the web notes and did horrible. I feel that the midterm tests you on whether or not you know how to take a test with his whole deal on getting penalized for wrong answers and his tricky wording of questions not on the material itself. The final was not as bad but since the midterm is 40% of your grade the final cannot compensate for your midterm grade. What sucks is that you have no room for any vast improvement in your grade. But it is a good class to get you interested in Microbiology.

Ralph attempts to be a "nice guy" in every way; he even softens scientific analysis to avoid insulting anyone. Personality aside, grading rests upon two tests that are easy to mess up on. I got a B- on the midterm, a high A on the final and 100% on the homework (extra credit) and ended up with a B+, which I really worked hard for. I felt that I deserved at least an A- in the class, but Ralph's grading structure seems to be set up in a way that penalizes a student far too easily. I observed this same trend with many students that took his class. Many will say this class is easy, but I think one would find that a grade of A is extremely rare.

Many here talk about how unexpectedly difficult Prof. Robinson was, but what they obviously didn't take into account was that they probably are entering freshmen, or upperclassmen that think reading more than 20 pages a night is just WAY too much work. Prof. Robinson is totally great: fluent and passionate lacturer, knowledeable, and FAIR. His exams were straight (I mean STRAIGHT) from his lecture notes. Know the lecture notes = know basically everything for the tests. If you still do inadequately on the tests, you probably haven't familiarized yourself enough with the notes.

Micro 6 was really interesting. His notes are online, so u don't even have to go to class. Do the extra credit. I stopped going after the first few lectures (cuz i was lazy, not cuz he's boring) and still got an A+. study, and do the ex. credit

Professor Robinson is a great lecturer and I enjoyed his class more than any other biology/life-science class I have taken. But it is not an easy A as the rating numbers would suggest. I have taken LS1, and Anthro 7 and I would say that it is not as hard as LS1, and maybe about the same as Anthro 7. At any rate, I had to work my butt off for my A, but it was well worth it. I didn't want to miss lecture because everything was so interesting, and I am also finding the information he taught us to be useful in daily life. When the doctor diagnosed my grandmas with Cdiff, i knew that it was a member of the Closteridium family, which is an endospore forming bacteria, and I also knew why it was so contagious. So, his information isn't useless as many of the other classes seem. A good class, but not an easy A. AWESOME AND FUNNY LECTURER!

I found the material in this class to be very interesting and Professor Robinson is a great lecturer. I received an A in the class but I had to study a lot for it so do not think that the class is easy. The midterm and finals were all multiple choice and based mainly on the online webnotes. You'll be fine on the tests as long as you know the webnotes very well. I enjoyed this class so much that i decided to take micro 12 for the following quarter. If you need a life science GE I would recommend that you take this one over some of the other ones. I think that you will do well in the class if you find the material to be interesting.

Robinson is the most energetic professor i've had this quarter. Although its definitely not an easy class, he makes it interesting. Plus, he's one of the few teachers i've had that can actually make science funny! Take this class if you can!
