LS 4 actually- He split the course between him and April Pyle in Spring Quarter '10. It was an interesting course and I enjoyed it. He was a good teacher and brought more life to the lecture than Pyle did. I would go and watch Dr Wall because he was interesting, but make sure to read over the power point lecture slides before you go. If you don't read it over, you can become (like I was sometimes) very confused. If I didn't review the material before, the lectures went over my head. I read the assigned readings for both Pyle and Wall. Our book was the Molecular Biology of the Gene 10th ed I think? It was a good book and helped round out the concepts explained in lecture. I was always a lecture or two behind so I never went to office hours, so try to keep up in the course. The curve was beautiful. I would have gotten an 83% so like a B- (I'm thinking) without the curve. With the curve I got a solid A in the class. I did spend a lot of time studying for the final though. I wrote out of all of the "review lecture" slides on a white board to help me memorize them. I think if you just read the slides you just glaze over the information. Good luck!
Bottom Line: Good professor. Pay a little attention to Darwin. I got an A by studying the "review" slides!

interesting and smart guy.
i enjoyed his lectures because he enriched us with facts besides the material required for the exam.
For those of you who like to stick solely to the topic, this might not be a good class..but otherwise I think the rest of you will enjoy him.
Dry humor, but he managed to make me laugh numerous times throughout the quarter and he really tries to make his lectures interesting.
Final was not easy, but somewhat manageable.
Study everything he says because its hard to tell what his exam will concentrate on.
