Professor Moreno offers the most intellectual stimulating courses at UCLA. He is extremely passionate about the subject and it shows in his lectures. He expects his students to not only to demonstrate understanding of the material, but to also critically analyze that which is presented. I have yet to find another professor during my time at UCLA that is as caring of his students, often times returning emails within minutes of being sent, providing appointments outside of office hours, and focus on his students academic growth. The course is not an easy A, but if you do the reading and are truly engaged you will be fine.

Quarter: Fall 2017
Grade: A+

This class was the most boring course I've ever taken at UCLA. Prof. Moreno Campos is very good at memorizing information and repeating it. And apparently we've read all the same books because it was basically a quarter long book report in lecture form. He lectures in a monotone, which certainly doesn't help given that he isn't presenting any new information. Further, and more significant, he does not respond well when someone questions the material or his presentation of it. Any ideas that diverge from his own are dismissed. I do not recommend taking this course with him if you are at all interested in anything more than a cursory look at African American Political Thought. You would do better to read a twitter thread by basically any Blacktivist ever. Honestly. Despite all that, or perhaps because of all that, the class is incredibly easy.
