I would recommend taking one of Reinhard Krauss's courses to any student here at UCLA. The man is incredibly organized, articulate, and intelligent. He is genuinely an expert. His courses will humble you and broaden your worldview. You will understand the history of civilization, religion, and our own society like you never have before. Your own spirituality, empathy, and relatability will increase. Take his course!

Hands down the best professor I have ever had the privilege of having. He is intelligent, kind, engaging, and I truthfully feel that he benefitted my education immensely. I highly recommend taking him for any class. You will not be disappointed, and you will come out a better person.

Class grading consists of one in-class midterm, weekly reading assignments and one final research paper, so workload is rather light, as long as you do your readings regularly and start thinking about your research paper early. Go to office hours and talk to this guy, because he is incredibly open to new ideas, and at the same time very concerned with critical thought and philosophical coherence, while being immensely respectful and good-humored. He's genuinely a great guy, and he seems primarily concerned with cultivating a general attitude of respect and intellectual rigor, rather than with strict content. One of the most humane, and socially relevant classes I have ever taken.
