Fall 2019 - This class was extremely doable! Professor Andalon designed it in a way to slowly build our skills with comprehensive assignments and exams. His lectures are a bit dry but overall he is a great professor! The class has one individual assignment (250 words), two other group/individual assignments (250 words minimum), one group project where he lets you work on it in class and section, a midterm comprised of 10 multiple choice questions and an essay section (2 pages), and the final is the same format as the midterm. He also provides a study guide for the midterm and final which is basically the answers on the tests themselves. There is no way that one can do less than a B in this class. In all honesty, this is the easiest class I've taken at UCLA!

Spring 2025 - This class was incredibly interesting and manageable for people that are looking for upper division electives. The class consisted of a course exam administered via BruinLearn and a group project on a topic of your choice. Students were able to pick their own group members and some of the groups were over ten students. I found the test to be very fair while working in a strong group for the project made it very straightforward. There are also extra credit opportunities available later in the quarter. Professor Andalon was always very communicative about class expectations and there is a reason that his classes are so popular! I definitely recommend this class if you're looking for an interesting analysis of immigration and a very attainable A.

Fall 2020 - This class was great. Andalon is a great instructor. He cares about the students and it was easy to get an A if you turned in the assignments. He divides the research paper up into 4 parts, and each part leads up to the final paper. He doesn't try to trick you - he just wants the students to learn and be passionate about the subject matter. I would definitely take a class from him again.

Fall 2025 - Your grade is based off of 2 exams and a semester long research project you will complete either in a group or individually. The workload is very manageable, and attendance is taken through canvas so it is not mandatory. However, Dr. Andalon dropped some students grades for not attending enough lectures, I had 101 in the class but ended with an A and some peers received emails saying their grade was being dropped to an A- from an A+ because of not attending enough classes. Our exams were online but I believe they are now in person. If he believes you are not attending classes he will be very rude, so only take this class if you plan to attend every lecture.
